The new SVS 3000 Micro active subwoofer has become one of the most compact models by SVS Sound – its cabinet dimensions are modest 353 x 390 x 390 mm, while the subwoofer is quite heavy – 12.1 kg. Two 8-inch loudspeakers are mounted inside the cabinet made of thick MDF plates with internal struts providing the necessary rigidity and acoustic inertness of the structure.
Drivers are located oppositely on opposite side walls of the case and are connected in parallel. According to the manufacturer’s assurances, this solution allows you to solve the problem of uncompensated vibrations.
The driver diffusers are mounted on die-cast nitrile-butadiene rubber suspensions of a special patented shape, providing a large diffuser travel of up to 24 mm. The speakers are equipped with four-layer copper-wound voice coils.
Sledge’s built-in proprietary amplifier uses technology from the flagship SVS 16-Ultra . The amplifier, based on discrete MOSFETs, operates in class D and is capable of delivering up to 800 watts (RMS) peak power. The manufacturer declares the lower limit of the operating range at 23 Hz with an unevenness of the characteristics of +/- 3 dB. Like other current SVS subwoofers , the 3000 Micro is equipped with an Analog Devices DSP -based microprocessor audio control and processing system operating at 50 MHz. Perforated metal grills are used in the SVS 3000 Micro subwoofer design . Reliable vibration isolation is provided by original isoelastomer supports. The subwoofer is available in black or white piano lacquer . In the UK, the subwoofer will go on sale by the end of March at a suggested price of £ 899 .
