Sonoro has launched the compact two-way speaker, the Orchestra Slim Gen.2. As the name suggests, the Orchestra Slim is a more compact iteration of the original Orchestra, with Gen.2 indicating that it is the second generation. Customers have the option to select either a matte black or matte white finish.
The Sonoro Orchestra Slim Gen.2 is described by its designers as a compact yet powerful monitor speaker, primarily intended to complement the Sonoro Maestro Smart HiFi Receiver. However, this does not imply that it cannot be paired with a different amplifier. For those who consider the standard Orchestra too large, the Orchestra Slim may be a suitable alternative. In terms of technology, the speakers share many similarities.
The dimensions of the Orchestra Slim Gen.2 enclosure are 180 x 260 x 326 millimeters, with a weight of 6.9 kilograms.
It has a frequency range of 45 Hz to 32 kHz (at -6 dB) and a sensitivity rating of 86 dB (which corresponds to SPL at 2.83 volts / 1 meter).
The woofer features a 5.25 inch cone made of paper and bamboo, reinforced with Kevlar.
High frequencies are reproduced using an Air Motion Transformer (AMT).
The crossover frequency is set at 2.8 kHz, and the impedance is rated at four ohms.
The Orchestra Slim Gen.2 features a bass reflex design with a circular port located at the rear. Consequently, it requires some space from the wall. Included with the system are a foam plug and magnetically attachable cover panels. Sonoro suggests using an amplifier that provides a minimum output of 50 watts.
The speakers feature a hand-sanded HDF enclosure with rounded corners, finished in a matte black or white finish and aluminum accents.
The Sonoro Orchestra Slim Gen.2 comes in a choice of matte black or matte white finishes. The recommended retail price set by the manufacturer is slightly below $1,000 for a pair.
