Q Acoustics expands its product range with the introduction of the M40, an active floor speaker notable for its compact dimensions, standing just 71cm tall and 25cm wide. It offers Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD compatibility, however, lacks streaming capabilities.
The Q Acoustics M40 further enhances its connectivity options beyond Bluetooth with the inclusion of two analog RCA inputs, an analog mini jack input, an optical digital input, and a USB B port designed for computer connections supporting 192KHz/24bit resolution. Additionally, it features a subwoofer output for extended bass. These elegantly designed speakers are compact and discreet, making them a perfect match for any room aesthetic. They are available in high-quality finishes of black, white, and walnut, ensuring they complement your interior design effortlessly. Their design includes a sturdy support system that positions them securely outside the cabinet.
Moreover, the M40’s tweeter is designed to not “engage” with the cabinet, incorporating Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer (HPE) technology. This innovative approach is aimed at minimizing unwanted standing waves within the cabinet, a feature consistent with Q Acoustics’ commitment to audio excellence as demonstrated in their other speaker models.
The speaker boasts an aesthetically pleasing design with curved edges and a flawless finish. It features a Class D amplifier, delivering 2x50W at 4Ω. The M40 is engineered as a two-way bass reflex speaker, equipped with dual 5-inch (125 mm) mid/woofers and a 0.9-inch (22 mm) tweeter, providing a sound response range from 38Hz to 22KHz at -6dB.
Setting up the M40 is straightforward, offering flexibility in speaker placement within any room. Users have the capability to designate either speaker as the left or right channel, enhancing the adaptability of the setup process. Additionally, the M40 features a three-position EQ selector that allows for sound optimization based on the speakers’ placement within the room—whether in a corner, near a wall, or in a free-standing position.
The design of the M40 adheres to a master-slave configuration. This means one speaker houses all the electronics and functions as the active unit, while the other speaker is passive and relies on a connection to the master through standard speaker cable. This setup simplifies the installation and enables a cohesive audio experience from the pair.
The active speaker in the M40 set weighs 12.4 kg, while the passive speaker is slightly lighter at 11.8 kg. Each speaker shares the same dimensions, measuring 250x710x296 millimeters, ensuring a uniform appearance and facilitating ease of placement within any interior setup.
