Kanto Audio, a Canadian audio company, has expanded its lineup with the introduction of the REN active bookshelf speakers, which join the ranks of its esteemed products like the TUK, YU6, and ORA. The REN speakers are designed as active two-way speakers and are powered by built-in class D amplifiers, delivering a robust 100 watts of power, with the capability to reach up to 200 watts at peak performance. Each speaker is equipped with a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 5.25-inch aluminum cone midrange/bass driver, ensuring a clear and dynamic audio experience.
A noteworthy feature of the REN speakers is the inclusion of an HDMI ARC input, marking a first for Kanto products. This addition makes the REN speakers an ideal audio complement to any TV that supports HDMI ARC, offering users the convenience of controlling the speakers’ power and volume directly from their TV remote control. Despite this, Kanto also provides a dedicated remote control with the REN speakers, offering an alternative means of operation. This integration enhances the user experience by streamlining the audio control process, making the REN speakers a versatile and user-friendly option for enhancing home audio systems.
Enhancing their capabilities, the Kanto Audio REN speakers come equipped with a Bluetooth 5.3 module, offering advanced wireless connectivity for streaming audio. Additionally, they feature a USB-C digital input, allowing for a direct connection to a PC, as well as a digital optical input capable of supporting high-resolution audio up to 24 bit/96 kHz. The inclusion of another USB port serves a dual purpose; it not only charges the batteries of compatible gadgets but also can act as a trigger or provide power to low-power signal sources such as set-top boxes.
The REN speakers boast a comprehensive suite of analog connections, including an RCA line input and an AUX input through a 3.5 mm mini-jack. Furthermore, they offer a subwoofer output, which is ideally paired with Kanto’s own SUB8 for an enhanced bass experience. In terms of aesthetic options, the REN speakers are set to be available in six appealing colors: black, white, cream, green, brown, and orange, catering to a variety of personal preferences and interior designs.
These speakers will be showcased at the upcoming Bristol Hi-Fi Show, starting on Friday, 23rd February, providing an opportunity for attendees to experience their audio performance firsthand. Slated for release in mid-summer, the REN active bookshelf two-way speakers are priced at 580 euros in the European market, positioning them as a premium option for audio enthusiasts seeking a blend of style, functionality, and superior sound quality.
