Danish company Dynaudio has introduced its popular Contour i speaker series in a new Nordic Silver finish . Nordic Silver wood veneer is, according to the manufacturer, made from “honest, simple and soft-touch poplar wood, sustainably sourced using an innovative lamination process. Selected tree trunks are “rolled”, almost as if using a pencil sharpener, into huge sheets of wood. Then they are mixed, matched, laminated, glued and formed, in essence, a new log . ”
Dynaudio industrial designer Marcus Abrahamsen notes: “This process allows us to define exactly how we want the speaker to look without the need for vinyl laminate or printing – it’s all natural wood from sustainable sources. And this procedure also makes the result more consistent between different speakers, while maintaining a unique organic look . ”
“This also means that differences between individual trees within the same batch, or between batches harvested at different times of the year, have much less impact on the final result ,” emphasizes Markus.
