Audeze introduced its first headphoneless product, the Filter portable conference speaker.
Equipped with an intelligent voice processing system, advanced noise reduction neural networks and beamforming technologies, Audeze says users can “communicate with perfect clarity in any environment.” All this is combined with a planar magnetic driver – Audeze’s area of expertise.
The device’s deep neural network (DNN) noise suppression is designed to eliminate most office or home sounds and present only the voice signal. This advanced Intelligent Zero-Noise processing algorithm has been trained on over 500,000 noise samples. The Filter also features variable microphone beamforming capture from 70 to 360 degrees, capturing all voices within 3 meters.
The patented planar magnetic driver, based on technology pioneered by Audeze to deliver intelligible sound to civilians and soldiers in war zones, features high sound pressure levels and low distortion. Incidentally, the company’s first product was a very large planar magnetic speaker array designed specifically for military use. Audeze conducted a legibility test of this flat array at Edwards Air Force Base, and listeners were able to clearly understand 100% of the words up to one mile away.
The 70mm by 105mm speaker also features Audeze’s patented Fluxor magnets for improved efficiency and a Uniforce diaphragm for distortion-free sound with a frequency response of 300Hz to 20kHz. The result, according to the company, is “the best sound reproduction and recording quality in the industry.” For portability, the speakerphone is equipped with a built-in 1100 mAh lithium polymer battery that provides up to 15 hours of normal listening.
“The filter has been designed to be portable and has a foldable design that allows the speaker to be placed vertically. The compact form factor is roughly the size of a smartphone and comes with an adjustable touch control panel, but the filter has more power than many speakerphones 3 times its size. With USB and Bluetooth 5.0, the Filter can connect to your computer, mobile phone or tablet,” said Sankar Thiagasamudram, CEO of Audeze. “This is a product designed for the hybrid workforce. You can use it at home for online meetings, but it’s small enough to fit in your backpack for conference calls or huddle rooms at work.”
