Goldmund has introduced the Eidos Excellence, a new high-end (SA)CD player designed to elevate physical audio playback to an entirely new standard. Supporting both CDs and SACDs, the Eidos Excellence combines ultra-precise electronics with meticulously engineered mechanics to deliver exceptional sound quality. The model includes a dedicated external power supply for improved performance and is offered in a refined gray finish, with a black version available upon request.

Developed in Switzerland by Goldmund, the Eidos Excellence SACD represents the company’s latest vision of what a physical audio source can achieve. It is crafted to strike the perfect balance: a compact yet uncompromisingly capable alternative to the flagship Eidos Reference, while preserving the lineage’s signature refinement and authority. Its external power supply further distinguishes it from the single-chassis Eidos SACD, ensuring superior stability and sonic precision.
At the heart of the Eidos Excellence SACD lies the unique combination of ultra-precise electronic architecture and the mechanics of the (SA)CD transport. This synergy guarantees sound quality, quietness, and stability that elevates the player to a class of its own. The SACD format, which stores audio in the high-resolution DSD standard at 2.8 MHz, is reproduced with exceptional clarity thanks to its low jitter level, vibration-suppressed transport mechanism, and specialized digital-to-analog converters (DACs). Each channel has its own dedicated DAC. According to Goldmund, the Eidos Excellence is one of the most accurate SACD players currently available.

The Eidos Excellence SACD benefits from a power supply architecture derived from decades of Goldmund research. This Goldmund-developed power supply generates each voltage independently for the left and right channels, ensuring an exceptionally quiet signal path.
By generating its own energy reserves, using custom transformers and a multiphase design, the system eliminates measurable noise, isolates the player from distortions in the AC power supply, and remains independent of grid instability. This is a performance that conventional designs cannot match.
The dual-box design, which places the power supply in a separate shielded enclosure, neutralizes electromagnetic emissions and guarantees absolute silence. A custom-made shielded cable, from the same family as that used in our other dual-box electronics (such as the Mimesis Excellence), guarantees impeccable power transfer. This dedication to silence and stability ensures that the Eidos Excellence SACD disappears like a machine, leaving only the truth of the music.
The Eidos Excellence is designed to handle both timeless physical formats and the latest digital resolutions. It can therefore read the following optical discs: SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R*/-RW*/+R*/+RW* (*audio data files only) up to a resolution of 384 kHz for PCM and DSD up to DSD512.
The player and power supply each weigh approximately 17 kilograms. Noise and distortion are outside the range of human perception.
