DS Audio PH-001: Cable for unlocking the capabilities of optical cartridges

DS Audio PH-001 has been released  – a special proprietary cable for connecting the company’s optical pickup heads. According to the company, the connector guarantees the opening of all possible heads built using this technology.

DS Audio optical cartridges have been available since 2013 – they do not use the conventional MM/MS system, but read the movements of the stylus through an optical sensor.

Unlike cables for MM/MC heads, here it is necessary to use a ground line to supply power to the cartridge – then the wire design must be different. The DS Audio  PH-001  uses 37 silver-plated copper strands of 0.26 mm diameter, providing a connector area of ​​almost 2 mm2.
