Cambridge Audio AXR100: A timeless stereo receiver crafted for audiophiles

The Cambridge Audio AXR100 stereo receiver stands out as the most powerful model in the AX series, designed to drive even large floor-standing speakers with ease. It features a robust metal chassis complemented by a thick aluminum front panel, which boasts a thoughtfully arranged control layout. At the center, a matrix display provides clear visibility from a distance, while most buttons for selecting signal sources and switching operating modes are conveniently located beneath it. Additionally, the volume control, positioned on the right side of the front panel, allows for adjustments to the sound timbre across both low and high frequency ranges through the menu system.

The Cambridge Audio AXR100 stereo receiver features three linear inputs, along with an additional input conveniently located on the front panel. It includes outputs for connecting both a recording device and a subwoofer. Additionally, the AXR100 is equipped with a built-in phono preamp designed for the MM cartridge of a vinyl record player. Notably, it boasts a high-quality integrated AM/FM tuner that can receive RDS information and offers memory for 15 preset stations in each band. Furthermore, the receiver incorporates a digital-to-analog converter utilizing the Wolfson WM8728 chip, along with two optical and one coaxial digital inputs.

The device’s power supply features a proprietary toroidal transformer designed to minimize electromagnetic interference while efficiently providing a substantial peak current to the load. Additionally, a five-volt USB connector is located on the rear panel. The Cambridge Audio AXR100 receiver is equipped with Bluetooth version 5.0 A2DP/AVRCP, supporting SBC. This stereo receiver can deliver up to 100 W of output power per channel when connected to speakers with an impedance of 8 ohms. The rear panel also includes screw terminals for connecting two pairs of speaker systems.
