The Atoll CD80 Signature CD player is an updated version of the very successful CD 80SE model, which received good reviews in the specialist press. The updated model allows you to use a very current update – an optional block of three digital inputs, optical, coaxial and USB*. Using the first two of them, it is possible to receive a digital stream with parameters up to 24 bit/192 kHz, and via the USB interface the player can receive data from a PC with parameters up to 24 bit/96 kHz.
Thus, the Atoll CD80 Signature player can be used as an external digital-to-analog converter, while connected signal sources can be selected both using the buttons on the front panel and from the remote control. The remote control in this model has improved ergonomics and can control not only the Atoll CD80 Signature player, but also other audio components of the company.
The player uses separate power circuits for analog and digital circuits, which can significantly reduce crosstalk and eliminate possible signal distortion. A transformer with a power of 15.5 VA is used to power the analog part, and a transformer with a power of 3.6 VA is used for digital circuits and the servo drive. The Atoll CD80 Signature player has audiophile-grade output stages built according to a symmetrical Kaneda circuit, and a filter consisting of capacitors with a total capacity of 12892 uF is used to power them.
The player has a very solid design, equipped with a precision transport mechanism optimized for playing CD-Audio discs. The player’s chassis has enhanced anti-vibration characteristics, and the front panel is made of thick aluminum sheet. On the back panel of the player, in addition to the mentioned digital inputs, there is a coaxial input, as well as an analog output, represented by high-quality RCA connectors. The Atoll CD80 Signature player is an entry-level model in the company’s catalog, but has a very favorable quality-to-price ratio and provides accurate reproduction of music of any genre.
