Apple has finally updated AirTag tags, in which they added a feature announced at the beginning of the year: an accurate search for abandoned trackers.
How the function works
If the iPhone detects an unknown AirTag that is moving with the user, then the device can play a sound signal, as well as determine the exact distance and direction to the tag.
Only works with iPhone 11 and newer which are equipped with U1 chip.
The second update, which was released on December 13, fixed an issue related to the accelerometer – it did not work in certain scenarios.
How to install the update
The update is downloaded automatically when the Internet and Bluetooth are turned on on the smartphone, and the tag is nearby. Everything happens automatically, most often at night. You cannot update the AirTag firmware on your own.
