Moondrop Venus are high-quality planar driver headphones that feature a distinctive design and deliver clear, transparent sound reproduction.
Planar magnetic driver headphones use a magnetic field created parallel to the membrane by a balanced array of magnets. The signals then generate a current directed perpendicular to the circuit board and onto the membrane to cause it to move. The advantage of planar magnetic headphones is that the voltage applied to the diaphragm is completely uniform and creates less unwanted residual vibration than dynamic headphones. However, planar headphones can be powered by the same amplifiers as dynamic headphones.
The 100mm
Moondrop Venus driver features a 100mm diameter diaphragm that is only 2 microns thick, coated with a 1 micron thick printed layer of pure silver. Thus, the headphones are able to provide a large dynamic range, while conveying the finest details characteristic of any music. Using a pure silver PCB helps limit heat loss.
The mechanical loads applied to the Venus membrane are completely uniform, and the rest of the wiring is integrated into the stationary part of the membrane. This limits the level of distortion that can be caused by residual vibrations and provides a sound similar to that of electrostatic headphones.
Optimized N52 Magnet Array
The Venus uses an array of 18 single-sided N52 magnets with a high level of remanence. Thanks to the FEA optimization system, the magnetic field parallel to the membrane is distributed evenly, which further reduces the residual and non-linear vibrations of the membrane.
Patented Integrated Structure
The Venus loudspeaker design must withstand high loads due to the large number of N52 magnets used. The entire structure requires the use of carefully CNC machined aluminum alloy to avoid any deformation.
Therefore, Moondrop Venus uses a unique internal cavity with an integrated structure that is ideal for the large diaphragm that needs to be installed in a small space, while effectively limiting the overall weight of the headphones and providing excellent structural rigidity to support 36 neodymium magnets. This special design not only allows high-quality components to be integrated into limited space, but also makes the headphones easier to service if necessary.
Combined Alignment and Waveguide Technology
The Venus uses a patented combined waveguide structure that minimizes phase interference from the magnetic array during high-frequency transmission, while avoiding negative impacts on the volume and efficiency of the magnetic circuit.
Double Equalization
After the membrane is formed, the tension on it is relieved and then equalized a second time. This additional process reduces membrane distortion at high pressure by at least 95%.
Superior Measurements for Maximum Performance
Venus’s frequency response is fully HRTF-compliant with less than 0.05% harmonic distortion. Distortion remains extremely low even at high load levels.
