Cayin has introduced the Jazz 70, a compact integrated tube amplifier designed to connect traditional analog sources and modern wireless devices. The new model uses an EL34 push-pull output stage, provides triode and ultralinear operating modes, and adds Bluetooth reception through Qualcomm and ESS hardware.
The smallest amplifier in the Jazz range
The Jazz 70 joins the Jazz 80, Jazz 90 and Jazz 100 as the most compact integrated amplifier in Cayin’s Jazz series. It is intended to bring the core tube architecture of the range into a smaller model while retaining source selection, volume control and power amplification in a single component.
Three RCA line-level inputs accommodate conventional analog sources. Cayin has also fitted a headphone output to the front panel, allowing the amplifier to serve both a loudspeaker system and wired headphones without requiring a separate headphone amplifier.
EL34 push-pull output stage with two modes
Cayin has equipped the Jazz 70’s preamplifier section with three 12AU7/ECC82 tubes. Four selected EL34 tubes are used in the Class AB push-pull power stage.
Listeners can switch between triode and ultralinear operation according to the requirements of the system. Triode mode delivers 17 watts per channel, while ultralinear mode raises output to 35 watts per channel. Cayin positions the two settings as distinct operating choices, with triode mode prioritizing a more intimate presentation and ultralinear mode providing greater power, control and dynamic capacity.
The power-supply design centers on a hand-wound toroidal transformer specified for low magnetic leakage. Wide-frequency-range EI output transformers couple the EL34 output stage to the connected loudspeakers. According to Cayin, this transformer arrangement is intended to support stable power delivery and preserve the amplifier’s tube-based sonic character.
Bluetooth with Qualcomm and ESS processing
Alongside its analog inputs, the Jazz 70 includes Bluetooth for direct playback from compatible smartphones, tablets and other wireless source devices. Wireless reception is handled by a Qualcomm QCC5125 chipset, while digital-to-analog conversion is performed by an ESS ES9018K2M DAC.
The supported Bluetooth audio formats include LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX, AAC, MP3 and SBC. This selection gives users several codec options depending on the capabilities of the transmitting device, without changing the amplifier’s primary role as an analog integrated tube design.
Front-panel metering and included accessories
Two centrally positioned VU meters provide a visual focal point on the Jazz 70’s front panel. The meters also assist with bias adjustment, giving them a functional role in maintaining the EL34 output stage as well as displaying amplifier activity.
Cayin supplies the Jazz 70 with a remote control and a removable tube cage. The protective cover can be installed to shield the exposed tubes or removed when direct access to the valve complement is preferred.
Cayin has announced the Jazz 70 as the entry-sized model in its current Jazz amplifier family. No confirmed USD price or detailed market availability information was provided.
With switchable 17-watt triode and 35-watt ultralinear modes, the Cayin Jazz 70 combines a traditional EL34 amplifier topology with practical features including Bluetooth, multiple analog inputs, headphone connectivity and remote operation.
