Goldmund has unveiled the Telos 9800, a new flagship stereo power amplifier built around a comprehensively redesigned amplification platform. Rated to deliver up to 1,550 watts into an 8-ohm load, the model introduces a major structural change by placing its power supply and amplification stage in separate but interconnected modules.

A Two-Module Flagship Architecture

The defining feature of the Telos 9800 is the physical separation of its power supply and amplification circuitry. Goldmund has divided these core functions between two linked modules for the first time, rather than accommodating both within a conventional unified amplifier structure.

According to the company, the arrangement allows the power supply and amplification stage to operate under conditions better suited to their respective functions. Goldmund says the resulting architecture is intended to promote greater stability across the complete system.

This approach makes internal organization a central part of the Telos 9800 design. Although the two sections remain interconnected and function as a single stereo power amplifier, their physical separation distinguishes the new flagship from Goldmund’s previous amplifier platforms.

Redesigned Power Management and Energy Storage

Goldmund has developed a new power-management system for the Telos 9800. The amplifier also contains the largest capacitor bank the company has used in one of its products, supporting the substantial power requirements of the redesigned platform.

The amplification stage incorporates newly developed power boards alongside custom capacitors and transformers. Goldmund says these components were created to increase operating stability and improve the amplifier’s control over connected loudspeakers.

The headline output reaches up to 1,550 watts into 8 ohms. No additional power ratings for other impedances were provided, but the specified figure establishes the Telos 9800 as a high-output stereo model at the top of Goldmund’s amplifier range.

Analog and Digital Connections

For analog source connections, the Telos 9800 provides both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs. This gives owners a choice between the two common analog interface formats used by high-end preamplifiers and source components.

Goldmund has also included S/PDIF input and output connections. Their presence adds digital interfacing to the amplifier’s connection panel, although the company has not detailed supported formats or other digital processing specifications in the supplied information.

The unit is additionally equipped with four terminals designated for headphone connection. Further details about their configuration, compatible headphone types or available output modes have not been announced.
