The long-awaited loudspeaker from the new Oneiros Audio, developed under the leadership of Jerry Bloomfield, CEO of Falcon Acoustics and Oneiros Audio, made its public debut earlier this month in New York City. The three-way floorstanding loudspeaker is scheduled to be available in early Q1 2025 and, according to the designers, represents a major innovation by combining striking aesthetics with advanced acoustic engineering.
Based in the UK’s Motorsport Valley, Oneiros Audio uses advanced technologies from the Formula 1 industry. The cabinet construction is made from a monocoque carbon fibre pre-preg sandwich system, identical to those used in F1 car bodies. Tier 1 specialists in Finite Element Analysis validated the acoustic properties and resonance damping of the cabinet, resulting in a robust yet lightweight structure. Lightweight? Hmmm, the Oneiros speaker weighs 140kg.
Oneiros Audio: drivers and crossovers
The Oneiros loudspeaker features two in-house designed 10-inch woofers featuring Twaron Graphene nano-composite cones, two 3-inch midrange drivers featuring Dyneema Graphene composites and a 1-inch OEM diamond dome tweeter. The crossovers feature custom designed gold plated PCBs and premium Mundorf components including Supreme EVO Silver/Gold/Oil capacitors.
The specified frequency range is from 20 Hz to 35 kHz. The manufacturer specifies a sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83 Volts) and the impedance is four Ohms with a minimum of 2.6 Ohms at 90 Hz. The Oneiros speaker weighs 140 kilograms.
And what does all this beauty cost? $650,000 per pair.
