ELAC has launched the ELAC Elegant BS 312.2 bookshelf speakers from the Elegant series, showcasing a newly developed proprietary ribbon tweeter JET 6. Crafted in Kiel, Germany, the JET 6 tweeter boasts a fresh foil layout and an altered front panel. By utilizing technology that relies on selective mass variation in motion, the JET 6 tweeter delivers a linear amplitude response that reaches into the ultrasonic spectrum. This guarantees precision and superior resolution of the audio output, while also minimizing total harmonic distortion.
The ELAC Elegant BS 312.2 bookshelf speakers also come with a greatly enhanced low/midrange driver, which showcases the company’s distinctive 115mm AS-XR cone with a crystal-shaped aluminum dome. With a larger voice coil and an extra magnetic ring, the driver delivers better efficiency and thermal stability.
The ELAC Elegant BS 312.2 speakers are equipped with two sets of premium screw-type speaker terminals for bi-wiring/bi-amping, providing versatility when connecting to an amplifier. Inside the speaker system crossover, top-notch components like air-core coils, metal oxide resistors, MKP film capacitors, and Van den Hul cables are utilized for superior sound quality.
The all-aluminium ELAC Elegant BS 312.2 bass-reflex enclosure is virtually resonance-free. This made it possible to do without internal baffles, which in turn minimised the number of sound-reflecting surfaces, allowing the sound to spread freely in all directions.
The operating range of the ELAC Elegant BS 312.2 acoustic systems extends from 42 Hz to 50 kHz. The crossover frequency is 3.2 kHz. With a sensitivity of 87 dB, the nominal impedance of the acoustics is 4 Ohms, and the minimum is 3.2 Ohms at a frequency of 280 Hz.
