The top model of the Rubikore series of speakers, indexed 8, is equipped with a reinforced bass section consisting of three speakers. With a case height of just over a meter, the speakers are not too noticeable in a modern interior, which is also facilitated by high-quality external finishing. Neat installation of the emitters on the front panel allows the speaker to look good with the removed protective grille, which has an invisible magnetic fixation. DALI Rubikore 8 is equipped with three low-frequency speakers with a diameter of 165 mm, one of which is connected through a traditional crossover filter, and the other two are connected for another half of the band “down” each. This required a lot of work on the precise coordination of all three low-frequency speakers, but allowed us to get an excellent result in terms of sound quality.
Thanks to this design of the low-frequency link, the speakers reproduce bass starting from 38 Hz, which is an excellent indicator for fairly compact speakers. An additional advantage of this solution is the smoothness and elaboration of the bass range with accurate reproduction of short impulse sounds. The woofers are loaded on a phase inverter, which is tuned to a frequency of 33.5 Hz. The crossover filter between the low-frequency and high-frequency ranges in the DALI Rubikore 8 speaker is tuned to 2500 Hz, which is optimal for accurate reproduction of live acoustic recordings.
The DALI Rubikore 8 high-frequency section consists of a HF emitter with a 28 mm fabric dome and a ribbon tweeter with a 17 x 45 mm radiating membrane area. Thanks to this, the operating frequency range of the acoustic system was expanded to 34,000 Hz, and its sound was made airy and crystal clear. The crossover filter between these heads is set to 14,000 Hz, which allowed the frequency response of the speaker to be leveled in the high-frequency region. Two pairs of gold-plated screw terminals are provided for connection to the amplifier.
The cabinet is reinforced with specially calculated internal braces and has damping to prevent sound colouration even at maximum power input. The latter for DALI Rubikore 8 is up to 250W, which, with a speaker sensitivity of 90.5 dB, allows for quite noticeable sound pressure in the listening room. Spikes and damping self-adhesive feet are supplied.
Drawing on over 40 years of loudspeaker research and development experience and taking inspiration from the flagship DALI Kore loudspeaker, the new Rubikore series uses several advanced technologies. These include SMC drivers with Clarity Cone™ technology, SMC-KORE™ inductors, hybrid tweeter modules with an all-new low-loss dome tweeter and bass reflex ports with continuous glow.
