MartinLogan has announced the Motion Discrete Cinema Series, a new family of low-profile LCR speakers and passive three-channel soundbars designed around 65-, 75- and 85-inch displays. The range combines screen-matched proportions with flexible installation features intended for dedicated home theaters and discreet living-room systems.
Two approaches to screen-matched home cinema
The Motion Discrete Cinema Series addresses the space between compact active soundbars and conventional floorstanding speaker systems. Rather than building amplification and processing into each model, MartinLogan has adopted passive designs that allow owners or installers to select an external amplifier or AV receiver.
Two configurations are available. The individual LCR models can serve as left, center or right speakers and may also be deployed as low-profile surrounds. The passive soundbars place discrete left, center and right channels inside a single enclosure, providing a consolidated front-channel solution without relying on onboard software.
All models use precisely manufactured extruded-aluminum cabinets with a slim profile. Their driver complements scale with the corresponding display class, giving installers options intended to remain visually proportionate as screen size increases.
LCR5, LCR7 and LCR9 models
The individual-speaker range begins with the LCR5, which is intended to match the height of a 65-inch-class display. Its five-driver array combines one Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter with a Folded Motion Waveguide and four 4.5-inch woven fiberglass woofers.
For 75-inch-class screens, the LCR7 expands the design to seven drivers by adding two woofers. MartinLogan says the larger array provides greater acoustic output, increased power handling and improved control in larger rooms.
The flagship LCR9 is proportioned for an 85-inch-class display and employs a nine-driver layout. Like the other LCR models, it can be installed vertically as a main speaker, horizontally as a center channel or elsewhere in a system as a discreet surround speaker. This flexibility allows the same design language to be carried across several channels of a cinema installation.
Passive soundbars with three discrete channels
Three passive soundbars mirror the principal display sizes. Soundbar 65 is designed for 65-inch screens and uses a Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter together with two woofers in each of its left, center and right channels.
Soundbar 75 is optimized for 75-inch displays. It increases the driver count across all three channels, including twice as many woofers in the center section and wider left- and right-channel arrays.
At the top of the integrated range, Soundbar 85 is designed for 85-inch screens. It contains a total of 15 drivers distributed across its three separate channels. Because each soundbar is passive, amplification and system processing remain the responsibility of the connected electronics rather than being incorporated into the speaker enclosure.
Installation hardware and cable management
MartinLogan developed the series with professional installation in mind. Every model includes a universal wall-mounting system that supports precise leveling and small positional adjustments. This is intended to help center the speaker beneath or beside a display even when the wall studs are not ideally aligned.
An optional television-mount accessory can attach to a display frame or VESA mounting pattern. In installations using a tilting television mount, this arrangement allows the speaker and screen to move together while preserving their visual alignment.
Recessed channels in the aluminum enclosure conceal speaker cables across different mounting configurations. Removable Phoenix-style prewiring blocks also use tool-free tension levers, allowing the wiring to be secured before the speaker cabinet is fitted in place.
Worldwide availability
The MartinLogan Motion Discrete Cinema Series is scheduled to become available worldwide through authorized MartinLogan dealers and specialist installers from late September 2026. Pricing has not yet been announced.
With three individual LCR speakers and three passive soundbars, the Motion Discrete Cinema Series gives system designers a consistent set of low-profile options for large-screen home cinema. Its scalable driver arrays, external-amplification approach and installer-focused mounting provisions distinguish it from conventional all-in-one soundbars.
