Denon AVC-X4800H: The ideal companion for a high-end home theater setup

The Denon AVC-X4800H AV receiver is equipped with the latest technologies for use in high-end home theaters. The device has nine built-in amplifiers and Dolby Atmos and DTS: 3D decoders, for which systems can be built in 5.2.4 or 7.2.4 configurations. However, if desired, thanks to the 11.4-channel output from the processor, the Denon AVC-X4800H-based system can be expanded by adding external power amplifiers. There are also virtual surround sound modes for those cases when installing separate high-channel speakers is undesirable. The AV receiver has an Audyssey MultEQ XT32 multi-channel sound autocalibration system for a quick and easy home theater setup.

The Denon AVC-X4800H is equipped with eight HDMI inputs and three outputs, which significantly expands the flexibility of building an AV system. At the same time, one of the inputs can be fed with a signal with the highest resolution to date, 8K, including the ability to upscale the signal to this resolution. HDCP 2.3 certification, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and HGL technologies, as well as the eARC audio return channel are supported. The Denon AVC-X4800H also uses special VBR and QFT video technologies for the most accurate display of video games. Among other connection options, the AV receiver has an input for an MM pickup of a vinyl player.

The Denon AVC-X4800H’s audio circuit is built around a DSP that uses two dual-core SHARK+ processors. The AV receiver has a full suite of streaming technologies for listening to music from available network devices and online services such as TIDAL and Spotify. It can play High Resolution audio (PCM 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD 5.6 MHz) both over the network and from portable media connected to the USB port on the front panel of the AV receiver.

Wireless technologies in the Denon AVC-X4800H are represented by Wi-Fi, the proprietary HEOS multi-room system, AirPlay 2 for owners of Apple gadgets, and Bluetooth. The latest technology in this model is used not only for reception, but also for transmission, which allows you to connect wireless headphones to the Denon AVC-X4800H. To control the AV receiver, you can use the proprietary mobile application, as well as the Alexa voice assistant. Something new was found in the system shell. The receiver now allows several bass manager settings. For example, in a multi-channel configuration, we set the LFE as is customary in home theaters – as an effects channel, and during stereo playback, a separate “musical” setting Main + LFE with other matching values is turned on for the sub.

It is also possible to use an additional preset for the entire set of audio settings. Let’s say one is performed for acoustics with curtained windows in the room, and the second one is for open “daytime” listening mode. In a similar way, the device adapts to old digital surround sound systems, which, as a rule, sound too harsh on equipment configured for modern Master, HD and object-oriented movie sound formats. By the way, it is possible that such flexible tools will appear with a software update in previously released models.
