The SMSL DO300 DAC builds on the technical base of the DO200 MKII while updating components for improved performance. Its D/A conversion stage is now equipped with the ES9039MSPro DAC chip, capable of delivering transparent, rich and accurate audio reproduction. Combined with the XMOS XU316 USB interface, the DO300 supports high sample rates up to 32-bit 768 kHz PCM, DSD512, as well as MQA and MQA-CD decoding. The timing circuitry has also been improved, with the DO300 now using the brand’s CK-03 architecture to achieve very low jitter levels.
Particularly practical is that the DO300, in addition to its connectivity options, is equipped with a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver from Qualcomm. It supports classic SBC and AAC codecs, as well as high-quality aptX, aptX-HD and LDAC codecs, allowing you to achieve near-CD replay wirelessly.
The DO300, like its big brother, has a beautiful screen that is bright and readable, protected by a tempered glass window. It clearly displays all the necessary information for comfortable use of the device.
The rear of the DO300 showcases a particularly comprehensive array of connections, allowing the DAC to adapt to the vast majority of audio systems. On the input side we find USB-B, I2S via HDMI, AES/EBU, optical, coaxial and, of course, Bluetooth. The output of the DO300 provides single-ended stereo RCA and balanced stereo XLR.
MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) is an award-winning British technology that restores the sound of the original recording. The MQA master file is authenticated by artists, producers or copyright holders. These files are easy enough to stream or download.
