Technics Unveils 60th Anniversary EAH-AZ100 with Magnetic Drivers & Dolby Head Tracking

Technics is marking its sixtieth anniversary by refreshing its wireless in-ear headphones, the EAH-AZ100, with a new aesthetic. Introducing the EAH-AZ100 60th Anniversary Edition, elegantly adorned in Champagne Gold.

The in-ear EAH-AZ100 was initially released earlier this year in black and white. Now, a new variant in Champagne Gold has been added to the lineup. The designers state that the EAH-AZ100 is tailored for purists and discerning listeners, featuring groundbreaking advancements in audio technology.

The standout feature of the EAH-AZ100 is its Magnetic Fluid Driver, which utilizes a specialized oily magnetic fluid (a technology that has been present in the audio industry for some time) situated between the driver’s voice coil and magnet. This innovation leads to reduced mechanical resistance, minimized distortion, and a more accurate reproduction of the audio signal. In essence, as Technics states, you experience less of the hardware and more of the music. Coupled with a slim driver design featuring free edges and an aluminum diaphragm, this results in high-resolution sound, well-controlled bass, and clear, extended treble.

Regarding noise cancellation, the EAH-AZ100 employs Adaptive Noise Cancelling technology as per Technics. These headphones not only adjust to the surrounding noise but also conform to the shape of the ears. Consequently, they effectively filter out unwanted low and mid frequencies with impressive accuracy.

And then there’s Voice Focus AI, which combines three microphones with intelligent processing to make conversations more audible. Background noise is analyzed and suppressed, so your voice comes through clear and distinct.

Dolby Head Tracking

Crucially, the EAH-AZ100 is equipped with Dolby Head Tracking and spatial audio support. Essentially, Head Tracking adjusts the soundstage according to head movements, ensuring that the audio experience remains spatially anchored.

Additionally, it offers Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast, and multipoint connectivity for up to three devices, a first in the industry. Want to swiftly transition from your laptop to your phone to your tablet? The EAH-AZ100 is designed to facilitate that seamlessly.

The battery performance is impressive, offering up to 10 hours of use with the earbuds alone and 28 hours when using the charging case.

Additionally, it supports wireless charging through Qi, includes Google Fast Pair functionality, and is complemented by the Technics Audio Connect app, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Technics EAH-AZ100 60th Anniversary Edition earbuds are priced at just below $300.
