Ultrafide Audio has launched a new stereo power amplifier called the SP500. The Ultrafide Audio SP500 was developed as a more compact and visually minimalist addition to the existing U500DC power amplifier model . At its core, the SP500’s enclosure is somewhat simpler. While the enclosure has a simpler, more straightforward design, the SP500 retains the same power output and sonic engineering design philosophy. This makes the SP500 suitable for systems where visual integration and limited space requirements are priorities.
Ultrafide Audio: Ultra Sigma Technology
Ultrafide Audio builds on three decades of professional audio production through its parent companies MC2 Audio and XTA Electronics. The SP500 was developed with input from veteran professional audio designer Alex Cooper, with a focus on audio quality and stereo imaging. The company notes that the SP500’s internal electronics are closely aligned with those of the U500DC, with only minor changes to the input and output configuration.
The Ultrafide Audio SP500 utilizes the company’s Ultra Sigma output topology, originally introduced in the U500DC. This internal amplifier architecture is designed to deliver pristine signal performance and clarity, building on MC2 Audio and XTA Electronics’ background in live sound and studio engineering.

The Ultrafide Audio SP500 accepts a music signal via a RCA or XLR connector. A set of XLR connectors is also available for looping. For loudspeakers, SpeakON connectors (most common in the professional world) are available, as well as conventional connectors that accept banana plugs, spades, and bare wire.
The amplifier features DC coupling from input to output for direct signal processing. Its design also allows it to be rack-mounted if necessary, making it suitable not only for use in a two-channel hi-fi system but also for studios where rack-mounting is common, custom installations, and multi-channel setups.
Ultrafide claims a power output per channel of 250 watts into eight ohms and 500 watts into four ohms. It has a dynamic range of 115 dB and a frequency response of 5 Hz to 20 kHz (+/- 0.3 dB). The output impedance is 0.025 ohms. Dimensions are 382 x 325 x 97 millimeters, and the SP500 weighs just over 13 kilograms.

Pricing and delivery information for the Ultrafide Audio SP500 are yet to be announced.
