Sennheiser has unveiled the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5, a new flagship true wireless model priced at $299.95. The fifth-generation earbuds introduce Bluetooth 6.0, Dolby Atmos with head tracking, revised adaptive noise cancellation and user-replaceable batteries in both the earbuds and charging case.
Familiar 7mm drivers with expanded sound controls
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 continues to use Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducers. Each driver is manufactured at the company’s facility in Tullamore, Ireland, maintaining a core element of the previous model while other parts of the platform receive substantial updates.
Sound settings can be adjusted through the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app. An eight-band equalizer provides listeners with more detailed control over tonal balance than basic bass and treble adjustments.

Bluetooth 6.0 and lossless-capable wireless audio
Wireless connectivity advances to Bluetooth 6.0, with support for SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless codecs. With a compatible source device, aptX Adaptive can carry audio at up to 24-bit/96kHz. AptX Lossless is intended to provide bit-perfect CD-quality transmission when the source, connection and operating conditions support it.
Sennheiser has also optimized the earbuds for Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Interactive head tracking keeps elements anchored within the virtual sound field as the listener turns their head, bringing a feature associated with the company’s full-size MOMENTUM 5 Wireless headphones to the smaller true wireless format.

Reworked ANC and voice capture
A revised adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation system is paired with an automatic anti-wind mode for use in changing outdoor conditions. Redesigned ear tips and a four-microphone array are intended to strengthen passive isolation and improve the effectiveness of ANC. The transparency mode has also been updated for more natural monitoring of surrounding sound.
Calls and voice capture are handled by a system incorporating six microphones and two bone-conduction voice accelerometers. An AI-based speech-extraction algorithm analyzes these inputs to separate the wearer’s voice from background noise. A micro-perforated acoustic microphone plate is designed to limit wind turbulence that could otherwise affect voice pickup and noise cancellation.

Replaceable batteries and up to 40 hours of listening
One of the most consequential changes is the use of user-replaceable batteries in the earbuds and the charging case. Owners will be able to exchange aging cells instead of discarding the complete product when battery capacity declines, potentially extending the practical service life of the system and reducing electronic waste.
The earbuds provide up to 12 hours of continuous playback per charge. Additional power from the Qi-compatible wireless charging case raises total listening time to as much as 40 hours. An eight-minute quick charge can supply up to one hour of playback when the battery is nearly depleted.

Smaller fit, IP54 protection and availability
Sennheiser developed a newly sculpted, aerodynamic housing using information collected from thousands of individual ear models. The fin-less design is intended to sit less conspicuously in the ear, and the company reports that 73% of testers found it more comfortable than the previous generation.
An IP54 rating provides protection against dust, sweat and splashes. The charging case has also been reshaped with a narrower profile and low-friction finish to make it easier to carry in a pocket.
The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is priced at $299.95 and is scheduled for release on September 3, 2026.
With updated wireless technology, spatial audio, longer playback and replaceable power cells, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 represents a broad redesign of Sennheiser’s premium earbud platform rather than a simple connectivity refresh.
