Audio-Technica has enhanced the popular ATN3600L needle, the iconic white model priced at 20 euros. This tapered tip needle has been a favorite for over fifty years, widely utilized across various brands of turntables.
A standout feature of the ATN3600L is its ability to maintain contact with the disc groove, even when the head is not perfectly aligned, thanks to its tapered design. This characteristic minimizes record wear, even under lighter tracking force.
The newly upgraded needle, known as the ATN3600LE, features an oval tip that significantly enhances the sound quality for turntables equipped with the ATN3600L.
Typically, replacement needles have a lifespan of around 300 to 500 hours, with a tracking force of 3-4g (commonly set at 3.5g).
The ATN3600LE represents a premium option, boasting an oval needle with a polished tip that offers superior groove detection compared to the tapered design. This allows for noticeable improvements in sound quality for turntables using the ATN3600L needle. The ATN3600LE is designed for easy replacement and is fully compatible with the existing model.
Importantly, the ATN3600LE does not replace the ATN3600L; both models will continue to be available for consumers. Additionally, Audio Technica has launched the ATN3600LC needle, which features an upgraded glossy white finish, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the ATN3600L while preserving its user-friendly design and sound quality.
