Gryphon Audio has unveiled the latest iteration of the EOS floorstanding loudspeakers. Through cutting-edge engineering and design innovations, the EOS 5 model manages to achieve seemingly conflicting objectives. The acoustics are designed to be as compact as possible for use in small spaces, while also delivering an impressive amount of power.
Standing at a height of only 1.2 meters, the EOS operates within a frequency range of 20–40,000 Hz, +2 dB. The development of this expanded range necessitated the creation of new technologies. All four drivers are groundbreaking innovations designed specifically for the EOS 5 : the 6.5-inch midrange and two 9.5-inch woofers utilize a TPCD ™ (Thin Layer Carbon Fibre Diaphragm) cone design.
Similar to the EOS 2 , the cones are manufactured by a leading Formula 1 component producer, while the smaller 29mm beryllium dome tweeter has been custom-made to complement the EOS 5’s higher midrange and high frequency crossover point.
Handcrafted from the finest electrical components, the PCS crossover maximizes power and provides the smoothest possible transition between speakers. Designed to provide a light amplifier load, it has a sensitivity of 90 dB combined with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a minimum impedance of 2.9 ohms.
The EOS 5’s intricate cabinet is handcrafted in-house to the same high standards as fine Danish furniture. Like all Gryphon loudspeakers, the EOS 5’s elegant interlaced-string front grille combines beauty and driver protection with complete acoustic transparency.
In addition to the two colours – Soul Red Crystal and High Gloss Black – developed for the EOS 2, a new coating – S-Mat Black – has been developed for the new speakers. This is a new generation matte black paint, first used in the production of loudspeakers specifically for the EOS 5.
