The Dynaudio Emit series consists of two bookshelf speakers (Emit 10 and Emit 20), two floorstanding speakers (Emit 30 and Emit 50) and a centre channel speaker (Emit 25C). All speakers in the series were designed, styled, tuned and optimised at Dynaudio Labs in Denmark. The state-of-the-art Jupiter measuring system played a key role in their creation.
All Dynaudio Emit series speakers use the Cerotar tweeter from the renowned Evoke series, which in turn is based on the stunning Esotar Forty tweeter from the special Dynaudio Forty anniversary speaker released to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary. The Cerotar tweeter’s custom AirFlow magnet is made from strontium carbonate ferrite+ ceramic, while the 28mm voice coil is made from aluminium – a Dynaudio signature previously used in the legendary Esotar3 tweeter.
Airflow optimisation in the rear chamber is designed to suppress unwanted resonances behind the soft, coated fabric dome. At the same time, the clever Hexis inner dome controls airflow, smoothing out the frequency response – for even cleaner, more enjoyable high frequencies. Dynaudio’s Emit Series midrange, midrange and woofer drivers are based on the developments created for the Evoke Series. Their cones are made from MSP (magnesium silicate polymer), a material developed by Dynaudio that provides the right combination of lightness, rigidity and damping for incredible fidelity. The cones are bonded directly to the copper-clad aluminium voice coil – for even greater control over their movement.
Dual-layer ferrite ceramic magnet systems deliver powerful performance. Using more magnets gave Dynaudio engineers greater control over the driver’s behaviour and excursion – for greater sonic precision. This improved dynamics at lower frequencies while maintaining superb midrange performance. All Dynaudio Emit speakers feature a new bass port with two flared bass tubes, optimised to reduce air turbulence and minimise unwanted ‘puffing’, especially when playing deep notes. And this attention to detail even extends to the internal damping material, which has been measured down to the gram for the right combination of damping and openness.
Dynaudio Emit crossovers are hybrid designs, using various combinations of first, second and fourth order topologies. Why? Because a one-size-fits-all approach simply won’t deliver the level of performance Dynaudio engineers wanted to achieve. Giving each model in the range its own combination of crossover networks means they can deliver a consistent sound character across the range (particularly important in multi-channel systems), optimising the quality of each speaker to do exactly what it is supposed to do. The Dynaudio Emit speaker cabinets are constructed from 18mm MDF boards and finished in a beautiful bespoke laminate finish. There are three finishes to choose from: Black, White and Walnut. All speakers feature magnetically attached black grilles.
The Dynaudio Emit 20 acoustic systems are equipped with a 180 mm low-frequency speaker with a diffuser made of a patented composite material MSP. Its use allowed to obtain a rigid and light membrane, which, thanks to the elastic suspension and powerful magnetic system of the speaker, is able to move quickly with a large amplitude, creating the necessary sound pressure. The woofer is loaded on a phase inverter, the output of which is brought out to the rear panel of the acoustic system. The front panel of the Dynaudio Emit 20 has a chamfer along the perimeter, which eliminates the reflection of sound waves and improves the quality of the stereo image. The successful organization of the front panel makes the Dynaudio Emit 20 attractive even with the protective grilles removed.
The tweeter in the Dynaudio Emit 20 has a soft fabric dome with a diameter of 28 mm, the design of which was completely developed by the company’s engineers. The tweeter is mounted on a wide round metal plate, which protects it from unwanted external vibrations and also serves to more effectively remove heat from the magnetic system. The speakers are connected to a crossover filter, made according to a simple first- and second-order scheme and possessing low intrinsic phase-frequency distortions.
To get the best sound from the speaker and fully realize its potential, it is recommended to place it on high-quality specialized stands – for example, Dynaudio Stand 6. In this case, it will be possible to get the optimal output of the speakers on the bass (both in terms of their quantitative characteristics and quality), and also to form the correct stereo picture in the listening room. Dynaudio Emit 20 can be used in both two- and multi-channel sets, where the speakers can also act as a front stereo pair.
