French loudspeaker manufacturer Atohm has updated its Sirocco product line. The new series consists of the two-way monitor model Sirocco 1.24, the 2.5-way floorstanding Sirocco 2.24, and the 2.5-way center channel speaker Sirocco Center. Drivers, enclosures, crossovers—all are said to be improved. Buyers can choose from a variety of colors.
Atohm Sirocco

According to the manufacturer, every aspect of the new Sirocco models has been completely redesigned, with technical changes that enable significant technical and audible improvements in performance. Improvements to the drivers, enclosures, and crossovers, combined with meticulous fine-tuning and precise manufacturing, result in a level of linearity and dynamics that, according to the designers, is unusual in this price range. The upgrades also ensure extremely low distortion and exceptional power handling, and were implemented with the primary goal of simply immersing the listener in music with all its intensity and emotion.
The speaker cabinets, made of 18-millimeter-thick MDF, have also been updated and now feature Atohm’s SWD (Standing Wave Damper) technology. This technology utilizes a laminar absorption cavity and a downward-facing bass reflex port. This effectively neutralizes resonance and reduces standing waves, resulting in clear high-bass and low-midrange frequencies without unwanted coloration.
Atohm Sirocco: modified drivers

The drivers in the Sirocco lineup and the improvements incorporated in the new models are the result of an intensive three-year development project. Driver highlights include: 20mm-diameter tweeters, lightweight silk domes, optimized die-cast aluminum waveguides, extremely high-quality ND52H neodymium magnets, and precisely calibrated, sound-absorbing rear chambers; midrange and woofers featuring a custom-made paper cone with specifically oriented short fibers, rubber surrounds with LDS (Low Diffraction Surrounding) technology, 84mm-diameter ferrite magnets combined with linearity-optimized pole pieces and a 25mm voice coil; and Atohm’s exclusive dual TICR (Thermal and Inductive Control Rings) technology in the voice coil pole plate. All drivers are tuned to a tolerance of 0.25dB.
The technical upgrades of the new Atohm Sirocco models result in a refined soundstage characterized by tonal accuracy, extreme linearity, absence of audible distortion and an exceptionally powerful and clean bass response that remains free from artifacts.
The Sirocco models are manufactured with the utmost precision and exceptional care in Atohm’s own workshops in France, allowing Atohm to maintain the highest quality control. Each driver undergoes a series of rigorous tests to ensure its quality before being installed in the speaker cabinets.
Atohm Sirocco: crossover filter

Constructed from carefully selected components, each meticulously calibrated to meet the stringent quality standards for the application, the crossover filters in the Sirocco loudspeakers are based on simple 6 dB/octave slopes and are complemented by impedance correction circuits to ensure sonic precision while making the loudspeakers easy to drive and perfectly compatible with a wide range of electronics.
The shallow slopes can be effectively implemented thanks to the time-dependent and phase-optimized drivers. The crossover also allows for further fine-tuning in the high-frequency domain via a switchable three-position attenuator, adjustable in 2 dB increments. This system allows the user to tailor the treble response to their preferences and the specific acoustic conditions of their listening environment.
Atohm Sirocco: technical data

The two-way Sirocco 1.24 has a frequency response of 46 Hz to 25 kHz and a sensitivity of 88 dB (2.83 volts/1 meter). Its nominal impedance is six ohms, with a minimum of 4.4 ohms at 200 Hz. Its dimensions are 180 x 345 x 260 millimeters, and the Sirocco 1.24 weighs seven kilograms.
The 2.5-way Sirocco 2.24 also has a sensitivity of 88 dB (2.83 volts/1 meter). The frequency response ranges from 40 Hz to 25 kHz (-3 dB). The nominal impedance is six ohms with a minimum of 3.5 ohms at 38 Hz. Its dimensions are 216 x 990 x 256 millimeters and it weighs 14.9 kilograms.
