PS Audio PMG Signature S400 and S200 Amplifiers

PS Audio has announced the start of shipments for two new stereo power amplifiers, the PMG Signature Series S400 and S200. The models join the company’s PMG Signature line and are aimed at high-end two-channel audio systems.

Two new models for the PMG Signature Series

The PMG Signature S400 and S200 expand PS Audio’s PMG Signature Series, a range introduced in 2025 to mark the American manufacturer’s 50th anniversary. Both amplifiers have been developed as new designs rather than updates of an existing model.

The main difference between the amplifiers is their output power.

PS Audio says the amplifiers were created by Darren Myers with engineering input from Bob Stadherr. The focus is on dedicated stereo power amplification for serious hi-fi systems, positioning the S400 and S200 as core components for listeners building around separate preamplifier and power amplifier stages.

S400 and S200 differ by output power

The main distinction between the two amplifiers is power output. The PMG Signature S400 is rated at 400 watts per channel into a 4-ohm load, making it the more powerful of the pair.

The PMG Signature S200 is rated at 200 watts per channel into the same 4-ohm load. PS Audio presents both models as suitable for use with a broad range of loudspeakers, giving buyers a choice based on system requirements and room demands rather than a different product concept.

Instead of a traditional power supply based on a conventional power transformer, the new products utilize an active power supply architecture.

Shared chassis and system role

Both amplifiers use the same enclosure format, giving the S400 and S200 a consistent visual and physical identity within the PMG Signature Series. That common platform also means the two models can be considered within the same design family, with output capability as the key differentiator.

The connectivity options for both models include balanced and unbalanced inputs, as well as two pairs of speaker terminals for bi-wiring.

As stereo power amplifiers, the S400 and S200 are intended to sit downstream of a preamplifier or compatible source component with volume control. Their role is to provide the power stage in a high-performance two-channel setup, whether paired with compact standmount speakers or larger floorstanding designs, depending on the needs of the system.

PS Audio has confirmed that shipments of both the PMG Signature S400 and PMG Signature S200 have begun. No USD pricing was provided in the supplied announcement.
