Lindemann has introduced a new line of high-fidelity devices under the WOODNOTE name. The series currently features two models: WOODNOTE Solo and WOODNOTE Combo—each representing the brand’s latest innovations in digital audio processing.
WOODNOTE Solo: Pure Digital Refinement
The WOODNOTE Solo is a dedicated network audio player that utilizes Lindemann’s proprietary upsampling technology, converting PCM signals into DSD for a more analog-like listening experience. At the heart of the Solo is the AKM AK4493S DAC, which, according to Lindemann, delivers unprecedented performance in their unique implementation.

This design sidesteps traditional digital filters, enabling the use of subtle analog filtering above 100 kHz. A high-precision Femto clock and FIFO-based reclocking system work together to eliminate timing errors, resulting in a sound that is described as natural, free of harshness or digital artifacts. The signal path is fully balanced, ensuring optimal fidelity throughout.
The Solo supports Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and more, with control provided via a custom app. Users can tailor the interface to suit their preferences, such as rearranging streaming platforms. The internal power supply is engineered with an R-Core transformer and low-noise voltage regulators for ultra-clean operation.
WOODNOTE Combo: All-in-One Digital Powerhouse
For those seeking a compact yet comprehensive solution, Lindemann presents the WOODNOTE Combo. This all-in-one unit combines a file player, D/A converter, and amplifier using a PowerDAC architecture. In this design, the DAC feeds the power amplifier directly with a pure digital signal—bypassing the typical analog stage entirely.

Like the Solo, the Combo performs DSD upsampling, and supports the same range of streaming services and app control. Connectivity options include HDMI eARC, USB, TosLink, and S/PDIF, catering to a wide range of digital sources.
Both WOODNOTE devices come equipped with high-quality headphone amplifiers, making them equally suited for personal or speaker-based setups.
A Heritage of Innovation
Founded in 1993, Lindemann Audio has built a legacy of pushing digital audio boundaries. From their first amplifier with ultra-fast current feedback to one of the world’s earliest upsampling CD players (1999) and SACD players (2001), the company has continually been at the forefront of high-resolution audio. The Musicbook series, introduced in 2013, remains a cornerstone of their product lineup.
With the WOODNOTE series, Lindemann once again proves that high-performance digital audio can be elegant, compact, and uncompromising.
