PowerGate from Klipsch is an element of the Klipsch Stream multiroom wireless system – a universal solution for distributing audio signals throughout the home. Now Internet radio broadcasting, streaming services, digital music recordings, CD and DVD playback are available in every room of your home.
The compact Klipsch PowerGate integrated amplifier has a pleasant design and high-quality finish. In the middle of the shiny black panel of the device there is a volume control with a convenient LED indication of the set level, as well as buttons for selecting inputs and turning on the power. The power supply of the Klipsch PowerGate is external, which reduced the level of interference, but the amplifier still turned out to be quite heavy, due to the metal chassis and the use of reliable components.
Despite its small dimensions, Klipsch PowerGate is distinguished by high technical parameters, as well as wide functionality. The amplifier features a Class D circuit custom-built by Klipsch, a leading developer of this technology, and delivers up to 100 watts per channel. This is enough to fully drive not only any bookshelf acoustics. But also many floor-standing speakers from popular brands. The device has a built-in phono stage (the analog input on the RCA connectors can be switched to Phono or linear modes), optical and USB inputs. The amplifier’s DAC parameters are 24 bit / 192 kHz. In addition, the Klipsch PowerGate is equipped with outputs for connecting a subwoofer, for connecting an external power amplifier, and for headphones.
The amplifier also features wireless technologies. This is Bluetooth with support for the improved aptX audio codec, as well as Wi-Fi. The latter technology is necessary for the operation of the proprietary Klipsch Stream multi-room technology, built on the basis of the popular DTS Play-Fi. It is the presence of this function that distinguishes the Klipsch PowerGate from most similar devices. The amplifier can become part of a multi-room system based on Klipsch Stream/Play-Fi, which will include compatible devices not only from this company, but also from other manufacturers. At the same time, it is possible to broadcast signal to other components of the system from any sources connected to the Klipsch PowerGate, and such a multi-room set can be controlled using a convenient mobile application. Of course, with Klipsch Stream you can play music from network devices and on-line services.
