At the start of the year, the Japanese company Esoteric launched the SE version of its flagship SACD/CD player, the K1X, from the Grandioso series, showcasing an exceptional level of craftsmanship. Recently, Esoteric has unveiled a gold finish variant, enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and build quality of the K1X SE.
The original K1X SE
Notably, this edition will be limited to just 30 units globally, making it a highly sought-after item for collectors. In an effort to cater to its dedicated fanbase and emphasize the prestige of its offerings, Esoteric has previously introduced limited editions with gold finishes for its premier models. This time, the Grandioso K1X SE has been selected for this exclusive treatment, officially named the Grandioso K1X SE Gold Edition.
The device’s boasts a sophisticated golden hue, echoing the design of Esoteric’s inaugural product, the P-1/D-1, which debuted in 1987. As a premier SACD/CD player, it incorporates an advanced disc playback system known as VRDS-ATLAS, representing Esoteric’s top-tier engine. This system is exceptionally durable and effectively mitigates vibrations while ensuring high reading precision. Moreover, the timing generator has seen significant enhancements. The earlier model utilized a custom OCXO generator, whereas the new SE version is equipped with the Grandioso’s flagship G1X timing generator. Developed by Esoteric, this generator features superior components, a larger oscillator, and other meticulously chosen elements for their precision, achieving an accuracy of ±0.5 ppm. A player with a more precise timing generator produces a sound that is more natural. Furthermore, the analog circuitry of the K1X SE has been refined, incorporating elements from the Grandioso C1X preamplifier.
K1X SE gold edition
The shock isolation feet of the K1X SE have been innovatively redesigned. Previously, Esoteric focused on robust legs, utilizing large CNC-machined stainless steel components to ensure high rigidity and to eliminate undesirable vibrations. In this iteration, Esoteric has adopted a novel method by eliminating screws for attaching the feet to the device’s base. The K1X SE employs a design where the device’s base directly contacts the feet, leveraging the device’s weight for stability. The feet are composed of two elements: the Pinpoint Foot and the Foot Stand, both crafted from stainless steel. The contact area between these components is minimal, resembling the tip of a spike, effectively dampening any unwanted vibrations. With its minimalist design and gold-finished exterior, the Grandioso K1X SE Gold Edition is a remarkable product that excels in both aesthetics and performance.
