Sony WF-C700N headphones have received most of the technologies of the annual flagship WF-1000XM4 and offer high-quality noise cancellation at a more affordable price. Sony’s ANC system is one of the best in the industry, and they also have a surround sound mode – just like the XM4 – that lets you turn on the sound from outside so you can let in enough outside sounds to not feel completely isolated. Voice Focus mode allows you to focus on what is being said.
Adaptive Sound Control adjusts sound settings based on your surroundings and even recognizes your frequently visited places. So if you frequently visit the same quiet coworking spaces to get work done, this mode adapts the sound mode so you don’t feel deafened in the quiet environment. Do you do sports in a gym where the music plays even louder? The headphones will adapt accordingly.
Sony’s DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), together with Sony’s 5mm drivers, works to deliver high-quality sound, promising “powerful bass and amazingly clear vocals.”

Like the XM4, the Sony WF-C700N is IPX4 splash-proof, has a wind noise reduction structure for clear voice calls in windy conditions, and supports Bluetooth Multipoint. Multipoint allows you to connect wirelessly to two Bluetooth devices at the same time and easily switch between them so you can take calls on your phone without having to re-pair your headphones to your laptop.
But at this price, there have to be some trade-offs, and in this case, it’s battery life. With Bluetooth and ANC enabled, you’ll get just 15 hours of use from the C700N – 7.5 hours from the headphones and the same from the carrying case.
