Q Acoustics has introduced the 3040c, a compact floorstanding loudspeaker that completes the company’s 3000c Series. Positioned for listeners who want to step up from a bookshelf or monitor-style speaker without moving to a large tower, the new model combines a slim cabinet with technologies used across the current 3000c family.
A compact floorstander for smaller and medium rooms
The 3040c is designed as a space-conscious floorstanding option within Q Acoustics’ most accessible loudspeaker range. Its role in the lineup is clear: offer greater scale and room presence than a compact standmount speaker while keeping the footprint and visual impact suitable for everyday living spaces.
Q Acoustics describes the model as a speaker for music lovers seeking more breadth, dynamics and spatial presentation from a slim enclosure. The cabinet follows the rounded contemporary profile associated with the brand’s recent speakers, avoiding exposed screws and visible seams for a cleaner look in the room.
The speaker measures 942 x 285 x 281 mm including spikes and stabilizer, and weighs 14.6 kg per speaker. Its effective internal volume is specified at 26.8 liters, giving the 3040c a cabinet size that sits below the larger 3050c while retaining the floorstanding format.
C3 mid/bass drivers anchor the design
Like the other models in the 3000c Series, the 3040c uses Q Acoustics’ C3 Continuous Curved Cone mid/bass technology. The driver profile is intended to combine the bass strength of a traditional conical driver with the midrange control and high-frequency behavior associated with a flared cone geometry.
In the 3040c, two 120 mm C3 mid/bass drivers are used. Q Acoustics specifies a frequency response of 43 Hz to 30 kHz at -6 dB, with a crossover frequency of 2.4 kHz. Nominal impedance is rated at 6 ohms, with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms, while sensitivity is listed at 88 dB.
Recommended amplifier power is stated as 25 to 120 watts, placing the speaker within the range of many conventional integrated amplifiers and stereo receivers. As ever, amplifier matching will depend on the room, intended listening levels and overall system configuration.
Tweeter technology draws from the Concept Series
For high frequencies, the 3040c uses a 22 mm tweeter inspired by Q Acoustics’ Concept Series. The tweeter is hermetically sealed and mechanically decoupled from the baffle, a construction intended to reduce unwanted influence from cabinet pressure and vibration generated by the mid/bass drivers.
The tweeter assembly also incorporates a ventilated internal chamber. According to the design approach used by Q Acoustics, this helps support cleaner treble reproduction with lower distortion and improved fine detail. In the 3040c, that tweeter is paired with the dual C3 mid/bass array to form a two-way floorstanding system.
Cabinet bracing and pressure control
The cabinet construction continues the engineering language of the 3000c Series. Q Acoustics uses P2P Point-to-Point bracing to reinforce targeted areas of the enclosure that are more susceptible to low-frequency vibration. The goal is to stabilize the cabinet structure and support more precise stereo imaging.
The 3040c also incorporates HPE Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser technology. This system uses specially designed internal tubes to reduce standing waves and unwanted pressure build-up inside the cabinet. Q Acoustics applies the technology to help the speaker maintain control across different playback levels.
A flat terminal panel with recessed speaker connections is included at the rear, supporting neater installation and allowing the cabinet to sit closer to a wall where the room layout requires it. As with the larger 3050c, the 3040c also uses a solid aluminum stabilizer with top-adjustable spikes.
Four finishes for living-room integration
The Q Acoustics 3040c is offered in four finishes: Satin Black, Satin White, Pin Oak and Claro Walnut. The front baffle uses a single-piece driver trim in Satin Nickel, while the Satin White version uses Satin Chrome trim.
This emphasis on finish and form reflects the speaker’s intended role as a floorstander that can be used in shared living spaces as well as dedicated listening rooms. With its slim proportions, rounded cabinet edges and concealed construction details, the 3040c is designed to sit alongside modern interiors without dominating the room visually.
With the 3040c, Q Acoustics fills the compact floorstanding slot in the 3000c Series, combining dual C3 mid/bass drivers, a Concept-inspired tweeter, reinforced cabinet construction and four finish options in a slim tower format.
