Rega Planar 2
Rega Planar 2

The Rega Planar 2 model is equipped with the brand’s new RB220 tonearm, a low-noise 24-volt electric motor and a rigid MDF housing with acrylic lamination. Every design element here serves to extract the maximum amount of information and detail from your vinyl collection.

The RB220 tonearm features an aluminum tube with a permanent shell, a counterweight with adjustable tracking force, a holder and an automatic anti-skating mechanism. Of particular note are the custom-made bearings with lightweight rigid housings, which have zero axial play and provide a low coefficient of friction. The player is factory equipped with a Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge.

The synchronous motor has a new control board, a casing with passive cooling, is powered by an external adapter (24 V) and transmits torque to the subdisk using a high-quality belt. Switching gears is done manually by moving the belt from one stage of the engine pulley to another. The platter is made of special 10mm thick Optiwhite thermopolished glass. A felt mat is included. To improve the player’s performance, a Performance Pack is available as an option, including an older MM Bias 2 cartridge, an improved belt and a natural wool mat.

The turntable’s central bearing has an improved design with a new 11mm bushing, which makes it possible to minimize the mechanical load on its parts. The austere, glossy Rega Planar 2 table is equipped with three modified support legs that cope with vibrations more effectively. The power supply button is located on the bottom of the case. The model is available in white or black.

The Rega Planar 2 player follows the plug and play principle, i.e. does not require any special settings and is ready for use almost immediately after unpacking and assembly. The sound of this unit is distinguished by accuracy, precision, rhythm, musicality, sufficient detail and well-controlled bass.
