Active subwoofers from the Deep Blue line are a product of the new, German era of Velodyne. The series includes 4 devices, all subwoofers are made in closed housings and are equipped with a forward-looking driver. The models differ in the caliber of the driver, the power of the built-in amplifier and, of course, the size of the case. Thus, the younger Velodyne DB-8 model is equipped with an 8-inch (200 mm) woofer and a 300-watt amplifier, and the older Velodyne DB-15 is equipped with a 15-inch (380 mm) woofer and a 450-watt amplifier. According to the simple logic of the model names, the Velodyne DB-10 subwoofer, is equipped with a 10-inch driver (245 mm), and the power of the built-in amplifier is 350 W (RMS) of long-term power and 850 W of dynamic power.

Although the Velodyne DB-10 is not the youngest subwoofer in the series, it can still be considered a very compact model: height – 296 mm, width – 316 mm, depth – 348 mm and weighs 11 kg. The subwoofer body, placed on low rubber feet, is made of thick MDF panels; the front panel is especially distinguished, the thickness of which is 52 mm! According to its capabilities, the subwoofer will fully sound a room of about 20 square meters. meters and will go well with small floor-standing acoustics.

The device is made in a closed MDF case, the thickness of the front panel is 52 mm. This provided a completely acoustically inert base for the 10″ woofer placed on it. Even at maximum volume, the Velodyne DB-10’s cabinet does not resonate, eliminating the possibility of audible distortion. The corners of the sub’s body are rounded, which gives it a less bulky appearance. The bass driver is equipped with a polypropylene-based composite cone, which is lightweight and has high rigidity. It has a four-layer voice coil with a diameter of 52 mm, which is located in the field of a powerful double ferrite magnet. The speaker reproduces deep and fast bass, accurately processing all changes in the sound signal.

The subwoofer has an amplifier operating in class A/B and developing peak power up to 850 W. This allows for a wide dynamic range and no distortion at the peaks of the audio signal. The Velodyne DB-10 conveys even the most energetic special effects of modern blockbusters with confidence and naturalness. On the rear panel of the subwoofer there are controls for the signal level and frequency of the input filter, as well as a handle for smoothly changing the absolute phase of the signal from 0 to 180 degrees. The DB-10 also has a switchable automatic start system when a sound signal appears at the input.

The Velodyne DB-10 features a full complement of inputs: stereo line level, LFE for the corresponding AV receiver or processor output, and speaker terminals. Using the latter, the subwoofer can be connected to the speaker outputs of a stereo amplifier in a Hi-Fi system. The connectors have gold-plated contact surfaces for reliable connections over long periods of time.
