The Cambridge Audio CXN v2 is an all-in-one streamer that plays Internet radio, supports Spotify Connect, and can wirelessly stream audio from Apple devices using Airplay. The model can connect to a local network via LAN or WLAN interfaces and play audio files from computers/servers. Any formats are supported, incl. FLAC and WAV in 24 bit/192 kHz resolution. You can control the streamer not only from the remote control or front panel, but also through the Cambridge Connect App with an intuitive interface and advanced capabilities.
The main difference between the new player is the presence on board of a more powerful DSP processor, which increases data processing speed, ensures quick start and guarantees smooth operation of the graphics of the 4.3-inch TFT color display built into the front panel, displaying menus, album covers, information about track, etc.
The device boasts twice the amount of RAM memory, as well as the ability to rewind within one track when playing files over a local network, from online services or from drives connected via USB. Cambridge Audio CXN v2 has access to highly efficient MPEG-DASH adaptive streaming technology, which delivers adaptive bitrate streaming content over the Internet via HTTP. This ensures better streaming quality.
One of the key features of the Cambridge Audio CXN v2 is the upsampling of any musical material up to 24 bit/384 kHz. For this purpose, 2nd generation Adaptive Time Filtering (ATF2) technology is used, implemented using the Sharc on-board signal processor and providing the most accurate oversampling mode.
Each streamer channel has one Wolfson WM8740 DAC (the chips are enabled in Dual Differential mode), making signal conversion available at 24-bit/384 kHz resolution. As a result, the purity and detail of the sound increases. The design uses a powerful Zander module for streaming audio, the potential of which will be revealed as new firmware is released.
The Cambridge Audio CXN’s well-damped chassis has excellent anti-resonance properties. The strict aluminum front panel of the case is decorated with a color 4.3″ TFT display, which displays album covers, track information, menus and other data. Next to the display there are buttons for controlling playback and other functions. On the right side of the facade there is a knob for adjustment volume and menu navigation, and on the left there is a USB port and a power/standby button.
