Marantz MCR 60n DAB Combines Streaming, CD, Vinyl and TV Audio

Marantz brings streaming, physical media, radio and TV sound together in the compact MCR 60n DAB stereo system.

Marantz brings streaming, physical media, radio and TV sound together in the compact MCR 60n DAB stereo system.

Marantz has introduced the MCR 60n DAB, a compact all-in-one music system designed to handle network streaming, CDs, vinyl, radio and television audio. The unit combines a digital stereo amplifier with HEOS multiroom technology and a broad selection of wired and wireless connections, requiring only a pair of speakers to form a complete system.

A compact system with integrated amplification

The MCR 60n DAB uses fully digital Class D amplification and is rated at 2 x 65 watts into 4 ohms at 1 kHz and 0.7 percent total harmonic distortion. Two sets of speaker terminals are provided, allowing the system to drive speakers in two areas with individual volume control. When only one pair of compatible speakers is connected, the additional terminals can instead be used for bi-amping.

A dedicated subwoofer output includes adjustable bass management, with the crossover frequency configurable from 30 Hz to 250 Hz. The system can also operate as a preamplifier through its fixed or variable analog output, opening the door to use with active speakers or an external power amplifier.

Listeners who want room optimization can add Dirac Live Room Correction. The required Dirac license and microphone kit are sold separately, making room correction an optional upgrade rather than a standard feature. A full-size OLED display and four Smart Select presets provide access to frequently used combinations of source, volume, tone settings, sound mode and room-correction configuration.

HEOS streaming and wireless playback

Built-in HEOS provides app-controlled music streaming and multiroom playback across compatible products. Supported services and platforms include Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Deezer, Amazon Music and internet radio, while Roon Ready compatibility is also specified. Apple AirPlay 2 offers another route for playback from Apple devices and compatible applications.

The network platform supports dual-band Wi-Fi, DLNA playback from computers and network-attached storage, and audio files including MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC, WAV and ALAC. FLAC and WAV playback is supported at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, with gapless playback available for compatible formats including FLAC, WAV and DSD.

Bluetooth 5.4 is included with two-way operation. In addition to receiving audio from phones and other source devices, the MCR 60n DAB can transmit sound to compatible wireless headphones. Voice-control readiness is listed for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, with Siri access available through iOS devices, although a separate networked voice-control device is required.

CD, vinyl and radio remain on board

Despite its emphasis on network audio, the MCR 60n DAB retains several traditional sources. An integrated CD player handles physical discs, while DAB+ and FM tuners cover terrestrial radio. A dedicated moving-magnet phono input allows a turntable with a compatible cartridge to connect without an external phono stage.

A rear USB input supports playback from storage devices. The front-panel headphone output has its own amplifier using Marantz HDAM-SA2 technology, while gold-plated RCA terminals are used for analog connections. A remote control, batteries, power cable, DAB/FM antenna and startup guide are included with the system.

HDMI eARC brings television sound into the system

An HDMI eARC connection allows the MCR 60n DAB to serve as a two-channel audio system for a television. Volume can be controlled with a compatible TV remote, and the system supports automatic power operation for a more integrated setup. The HDMI cable is not included.

Built-in decoding supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus, converting incoming material to stereo PCM. The system is strictly a stereo product and does not provide surround-sound playback, positioning it as an alternative for users who want conventional speakers and music-focused features alongside television audio.

The Marantz MCR 60n DAB is listed in multiple finishes and is supplied with its remote control.

Its combination of amplification, source components and streaming is aimed at listeners who want to select their own passive speakers without assembling a rack of separate electronics. Expansion options include a second speaker pair, a powered subwoofer, active speakers through the preamplifier output and optional Dirac Live processing.

With HEOS, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC, CD playback, DAB+/FM radio and a moving-magnet phono input in one chassis, the MCR 60n DAB is Marantz’s compact answer for listeners seeking a flexible stereo hub for both music and television.
