In the 1980s, the choice between a portable audio device (a boombox) and a home stereo system was easy. They were very different from each other in appearance, and their functionality was obvious. Today this is no longer the case. Many multiroom speakers are designed like boomboxes and don't seem designed to be integrated into a home environment. This causes confusion. The Defunc brand was created in order to diversify the multiroom systems market by offering a very competitively priced product.
