LG Sound Suite Breaks the Soundbar Mold with Modular Dolby Atmos

LG and Dolby’s Sound Suite promises real Dolby Atmos without cable chaos, with modular wireless speakers, smart room calibration and up to 13.1.7 channels.

LG and Dolby have developed the LG Sound Suite, a modular soundbar system that will be unveiled to the public at CES 2026 in January. The LG Sound Suite is a modular wireless audio system that can be expanded with separate speakers and a subwoofer for a more immersive Atmos experience.

LG Sound Suite: FlexConnect from Dolby

FlexConnect is Dolby’s solution to a familiar problem: how do you get cinema-quality sound without turning your living room into a cable jungle? The answer lies in smart wireless connections, automatic speaker calibration, and a flexible ecosystem. Of course, there were already numerous Atmos systems and soundbars with wireless surround speakers, but according to the designers, this new system works much smarter. Moreover, you don’t have to buy everything at once; you can expand it later.

FlexConnect was unveiled back in 2023, but while the first implementation, TCL’s Z100, was limited to four speakers including a subwoofer, LG’s Sound Suite paves the way for a full 13.1.7 setup: thirteen channels plus a subwoofer and seven height channels, all wirelessly via the soundbar, wireless woofer, and four wireless multi-speaker units.

The Sound Suite includes the H7, the M5 and M7 surrounds, and the W7 subwoofer. All speakers are equipped with Peerless Audio components, a renowned name in high-quality drivers. The H7 runs on the same Alpha 11 Gen 3 chip as LG’s latest OLED and Micro RGB LED TV, which LG also showcased at CES. This not only ensures fast processing but also seamless integration with other LG devices. The system works with all existing televisions, unlike TCL’s first FlexConnect speakers. The soundbar itself is the smart heart of the system.

The unique feature of Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is its automatic room calibration. Simply place the speakers where you want, press start, and within seconds the system analyzes the room using a short sound clip. No measuring microphones or endless adjustments are required. Then, according to the manufacturer, the system knows exactly how to distribute the sound for optimal effect, including Atmos height effects.

On top of that, LG’s proprietary Sound Follow technology, based on ultra-wideband, shifts the “sweet spot” to your current listening position, ideal for those who aren’t always directly in front of the TV. This technology claims to measure where you’re actually sitting and adjusts the volume and timing of the speakers accordingly. The H7 can also be used as a standalone unit: even without an LG TV, it acts as the central hub for the entire audio system.

According to LG, there are 27 possible setups, from a simple two-channel (stereo) to a full-fledged home theater system. And because everything works wirelessly, these setups are easily adapted to your interior or changing living needs.

The Sound Suite will debut at CES 2026 in early January, and if it lives up to its promises, it looks set to be the most accessible and flexible way yet to truly bring Dolby Atmos into your living room, without compromising on sound quality or design.
