Bluesound Pulse Sub Adds Dual 6.5-Inch Bass to BluOS

Bluesound has announced the Pulse Sub (SW200), a newly developed wireless active subwoofer designed for the BluOS ecosystem. Its compact enclosure houses two opposed 6.5-inch woofers, a 350-watt amplifier and Smart DSP, with setup and system integration handled through the BluOS Controller app.

A new subwoofer for BluOS systems

The Pulse Sub is intended to add low-frequency extension to compatible Bluesound systems used for films, television, games and music. Rather than operating as a standalone conventional subwoofer, it connects wirelessly within BluOS and can be added through the same app used to manage other Bluesound components.

This completely newly developed wireless active subwoofer gives movies, music, TV content, and games more depth, impact, and immersion.

Bluesound positions the model as an easy expansion option for existing users. The subwoofer can be paired with the Pulse Cinema or Pulse Cinema Mini wireless soundbars to strengthen the low-frequency foundation of a home-cinema system. It is also compatible with the Powernode wireless streaming amplifier, allowing it to support a music-focused speaker setup without requiring a signal cable between the amplifier and subwoofer.

Dual opposed 6.5-inch woofers

Inside the Pulse Sub are two specially developed 6.5-inch woofers mounted opposite one another. This force-cancelling arrangement is designed so that the mechanical forces produced by the drivers largely counteract each other, reducing unwanted cabinet vibration and resonance while the cones reproduce bass.

The driver configuration is powered by a 350-watt amplifier supported by Smart DSP processing. According to Bluesound's technical information, the new design provides 2.5 times the amplifier power of the previous generation. The combination is intended to deliver deeper, more dynamic low frequencies while retaining controlled operation from a relatively compact cabinet.

With a powerful 350-watt amplifier, two opposing 6.5-inch woofers, and seamless wireless integration via BluOS, the Pulse Sub delivers impressive bass from a compact enclosure that fits discreetly into any interior.

Reducing enclosure movement is particularly relevant for a subwoofer designed to fit discreetly into living spaces. Wireless setup through the BluOS Controller app

The Pulse Sub has been developed specifically around the BluOS platform. Compatible Bluesound products can discover and connect to it wirelessly, with pairing completed in a few steps through the BluOS Controller app. This approach avoids the need to route a traditional subwoofer interconnect across the room.

Within a Bluesound home-cinema arrangement, the subwoofer can form part of a wider wireless system built around the company's Pulse products. Bluesound also identifies the Pulse Cinema and Pulse Flex as components that can be combined in a wireless surround configuration, with the Pulse Sub handling low-frequency duties.

For Bluesound users looking to expand their system with more low end and impact, the Pulse Sub makes adding powerful bass as simple as adding an extra Bluesound player.

The app-based setup reflects the product's role as an ecosystem component rather than a generic add-on. It gives existing BluOS owners a consistent way to incorporate dedicated bass into compatible soundbar, surround or Powernode-based systems.

Design, finishes and availability

Bluesound has kept the enclosure compact to help the Pulse Sub integrate into domestic rooms without becoming a dominant visual element. Two finishes will be offered: black and white with tan detailing.

The Bluesound Pulse Sub carries the SW200 model designation. Availability through authorized Bluesound dealers is expected to begin in January 2027. No confirmed USD price was provided in the announcement.
