Premiera has expanded its range of compact network amplifiers with the launch of the new D2S, an updated and more powerful successor to the D1S introduced just a few months ago. Despite retaining the same compact chassis, the D2S adds several new features and significantly higher output power, positioning it as a more complete all-in-one solution for modern hi-fi systems.

The most notable upgrade is power output. While the earlier D1S delivered 2 × 101 watts into 4 ohms, the new D2S increases this figure to 2 × 168 watts at the same load. At the same time, Premiera has integrated a phono preamplifier, expanding the amplifier’s appeal to vinyl listeners alongside its digital and streaming capabilities.
Physically, the D2S remains unchanged in size at 270 × 70 × 277 mm. The exterior design follows the same minimalist approach as its predecessor, with a thick aluminum front panel, two multifunction rotary controls, a matrix display, and a front-mounted 3.5 mm headphone output. Most system functions are handled via software-based menus rather than dedicated buttons, allowing for future feature updates through firmware.

Connectivity is extensive for a unit of this size. The D2S supports up to ten sources, including seven digital inputs. Wireless playback is handled via Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX, aptX HD, and AAC codecs. Wired digital connections include two optical inputs, coaxial, Ethernet, HDMI ARC, and a USB-A port for local storage devices up to 500 GB formatted in FAT32. Three analog inputs are also provided, labeled PHONO, CD, and AUX.
The integrated network platform is based on the Linkplay A98-M22 module, supporting DLNA and AirPlay 2, as well as access to popular streaming services via the Audio System and WiiM Home apps. Multi-room playback is also supported within the Linkplay ecosystem.

Digital-to-analog conversion is handled by an ES9018K2M Sabre DAC, using multiple channels in parallel to reduce noise and distortion. The DAC supports PCM decoding up to 32-bit/384 kHz, while internal playback through the amplifier is specified up to 24-bit/92 kHz.
Amplification duties are handled by Class D stages based on the Texas Instruments TPA3255 chip. To accommodate the increased output power, Premiera has redesigned the power supply and enlarged the heatsink. The amplifier includes built-in protection circuits for thermal overload, short circuits, and input clipping, removing the need for speaker protection relays in the signal path.

Additional features include a digital volume control with 1 dB steps over an 87 dB range, adjustable tone controls, a Loudness function, remote control, and app-based operation. The D2S weighs 3.2 kg, has a maximum power consumption of 450 VA, and is supplied with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
With the D2S, Premiera continues to focus on compact, software-driven integrated amplifiers that combine streaming, digital playback, and traditional analog inputs in a single chassis—now with higher output power and expanded functionality.
