European Audio Team (EAT) has launched the E-Glo II, a phono amplifier distinguished by its six illuminated tubes that rise from the top plate. Users can choose from a variety of colors for the lights that encircle the tubes. The power supply is housed in a separate unit, and the E-Glo II provides a high degree of adjustability.
The design of the E-Glo II is sophisticated, intended to optimize the performance of every turntable component while also presenting an attractive visual appeal. It is engineered to deliver audiophile-quality sound within a sleek and luxurious aluminum enclosure.
The E-Glo II is fitted with four ECC83 tubes and two ECC88 tubes, known for their reliability and ease of replacement. The manufacturer encourages users to experiment with different tube types.
This phono amplifier features a fully balanced input stage that incorporates a Lundahl LL1932 step-up transformer, providing 45 dB of gain to improve both output levels and audio quality. Furthermore, the split, fully passive equalization stage enhances efficiency and minimizes strain on the tubes, resulting in low-noise operation and offering greater gain options than typically found in conventional tube-based phono amplifiers.
The designers have selected high-quality components, featuring capacitors from Mundorf and WIMA. The capacitance for MM elements is adjustable, as is the resistance for MC elements.
The power supply is housed in a separate enclosure of identical dimensions. A double-shielded toroidal transformer is used to reduce interference and ensure a clean power supply. Furthermore, the design includes noise suppression resistors and premium capacitors to enhance the phono stage’s protection against electromagnetic interference.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the E-Glo II is both striking and functional. Users have the option to select the color of the LED lights that illuminate the tubes. Front-mounted switches allow for straightforward adjustments to settings, enabling users to customize their preferences without the need to open the unit.
