Accuphase has introduced the E-800S, a premier integrated amplifier model. This new release is a redesign of the company’s 50th anniversary E-800 model, featuring a balanced architecture from input to output.
The amplifier incorporates the Balanced AAVA volume control circuit, which achieves a noise reduction of approximately 10% compared to earlier models.
Traditional preamplifiers utilize variable resistors for volume adjustment, which can degrade over time and contribute to increased noise. In contrast, AAVA generates multiple signals of varying levels from the input and adjusts the volume by modifying the combination of these signals, effectively minimizing distortions and maintaining exceptionally low noise levels across all volume settings.
The IV conversion amplifier is equipped with an ANCC circuit, functioning as a “sub-amplifier” to mitigate noise and distortion from the main amplifier, utilizing a low-noise amplifier for optimal performance.
The level slider is crafted from aluminum blocks, and the remote control system is designed to operate so quietly that it is virtually inaudible.
The amplifier’s final stage features six pairs of parallel MOSFETs configured in a push-pull arrangement, operating in Class A and supported by substantial heatsinks on both sides. It delivers power outputs of 50W at 8Ω, 100W at 4Ω, or 200W at 2Ω.
The power supply is designed with a robust toroidal transformer that ensures consistent power delivery, complemented by two high-capacity filter capacitors rated at 63000µF/63V.
With a damping factor of 1,000, the amplifier excels in driving speakers, maximizing their dynamic range.
It includes two speaker terminals and supports bi-amping configurations. Additionally, there is a rear slot available for optional upgrades, such as a DAC or phono stage.
In terms of connectivity, the amplifier offers five line inputs along with three balanced XLR inputs. The Accuphase E-800S also features a premium headphone amplifier with a 6.3 mm output.
Constructed from high carbon cast iron, the chassis provides exceptional shock absorption.
The dimensions of the unit are 465 mm in width, 502 mm in depth, and 239 mm in height, with a total weight of 35.7 kg.
