HiFi Rose has unveiled a new external DAC, the HiFi Rose RD160 , which the manufacturer says is designed to provide “high-quality digital-to-analog conversion thanks to its thoughtful design and use of innovative technologies . ”
The new product is made in a fully balanced architecture and implements the “dual mono” principle, including separate power supplies for the various systems of the component in order to minimize distortion and crosstalk. HiFi Rose RD160 is equipped with three linear power supplies that independently power the digital section, left and right analog amplification channels. HiFi Rose claims that this approach provides “a stable power supply in accordance with the dynamic requirements of each stage” and allows “the power supply to maintain high signal integrity, thereby increasing the resolution and dynamic range of the DAC . ”
The HiFi Rose RD160 uses proprietary technologies, including ROSE DPC™ (Digital Processing Core), which ensures conversion accuracy by synchronizing the digital stream at the DAC input using a high-precision OCXO clock generator. The new product also implements the ROSE CIM™ (Completely Isolated Module) architecture, which isolates digital and analog paths using two separate DAC chips for each channel, which leads to noise minimization. At the same time, the ROSE NRA™ (Noise Reduction Analogue) filter provides a flat frequency response even at low frequencies.
The HiFi Rose RD160 switching arsenal includes two coaxial and one optical S/PDIF input, a balanced AES/EBU digital input, HDMI I2S and USB-B inputs – and, from all inputs, the DAC is capable of processing high-resolution audio in PCM format with parameters up to 32 bit / 784 kHz and in DSD format up to DSD512. Analog switching includes a balanced output on XLR connectors and an unbalanced one on RCA.
The HiFi Rose RD160 uses only the highest quality, specially selected components, including J-FET operational amplifiers and specialized cables, all housed in an aluminum case.
The HiFi Rose RD160 DAC offers a variety of features to fine-tune the sound to your tastes. You can choose from four sampling options (Bypass, PCM, DSD and Upsampling) and six digital filters, all of which are adjustable via the AMOLED touchscreen on the front panel of the component. In addition, the HiFi Rose RD160 is equipped with an SFP USB input for optical connection to other compatible HiFi Rose products, such as the HiFi Rose RS130 network transport.
