The iFi Pro iCAN SIGNATURE tube preamp and headphone amplifier is the quintessence of the brand’s know-how, supported by the prestigious AMR company. Based on a transistor-tube hybrid circuit, the iFi Pro iCAN SIGNATURE embodies the best of both technologies, rather than a caricature compromise. Therefore, we can choose the sound as we wish, inserting tube or only transistor sound into the circuit.
Stereo input is via a transistor stage of fast, very low distortion JFETs, accompanied by a bipolar stage, assisted by a Class A Mosfet stage. The tube stage is amplified by two 5670 GEs as close as possible to the ALPS “Black Beauty” potentiometer. 6 tracks in true balanced mode.
Thus, the iFi pro iCAN SIGNATURE stereo preamplifier is completely symmetrical from input to output on a 4-layer printed circuit.
The circuit, which is fully optimized in current-coupling mode, has no capacitors in its path that could degrade the original signal.
This preamp uses only hand-selected components: Vishay MELF capacitors, TDK COG for the audio part, Elna Silmic II and Panasonic Foil for the power part.
Like any high-end headphone amplifier, the gain is fully adjustable in three positions: 0 dB, 9 dB, 18 dB.
