Perlisten D8is Subwoofer Launched: Force-Canceling Push-Pull Design, 8×8.5″ Drivers and 3 kW DSP Amplifier

Perlisten has launched the D8is, a large-format subwoofer that utilizes a push-pull configuration with eight 8.5-inch drivers and consistent force-canceling technology. The D8is is designed for precise bass reproduction in high-end stereo and home theater applications.

With the Perlisten D8is, the manufacturer expands its subwoofer portfolio with a model clearly designed, both structurally and visually, for uncompromising reproduction of the lowest frequencies. This subwoofer won’t be tucked away in a corner, and no, it won’t fit under your sofa either. The solid aluminum enclosure is 114 centimeters high and weighs 104 kilograms.

The D8is features eight 215-millimeter (8.5-inch) drivers in a push-pull arrangement. Acoustically, the drivers operate in phase, but mechanically they move in opposite directions. This design utilizes force-cancelling technology, which largely cancels out mechanical forces. The goal is to minimize cabinet resonance, even at high volumes.

This construction allows the D8is to combine the fast response of compact drivers with the diaphragm surface area and depth of large subwoofers, while simultaneously reducing cabinet vibrations.

Perlisten D8is: External DSP amplifier

The subwoofer is powered by the included external DSP3000A amplifier. This 3 kW module is housed in a steel and aluminum enclosure and features integrated DSP for precise signal processing.

The front panel features a 2.8-inch color display. For various applications, the amplifier can be placed in plain sight in the living room, integrated into an installation cabinet, or integrated into a rack using optional mounting brackets.

The D8is is designed to precisely control low-frequency reproduction spatially. The main speakers are primarily optimized for spatial reproduction and localization, while the subwoofer handles the frequency range that is strongly influenced by room resonances. This creates a clear separation of tasks: spatial reproduction and localization on the one hand, and controlled bass distribution within the room on the other.

The result is a more stable and deeper soundstage and more consistent bass response across the entire listening range. Even in home theaters, the D8is is designed for control rather than simply maximizing volume. Low-frequency effects are reproduced with high precision, without the bass becoming uncontrolled or distorted. Texture remains intact, especially during complex effects and synthesizer passages, which is particularly relevant in immersive formats like Dolby Atmos.

Despite its size, the D8is offers a variety of integration options. It can be used freestanding, flush-mounted, or wall-mounted using suitable brackets. Furthermore, it’s designed for use in Perlisten waveforming configurations, where multiple subwoofers are used together for active room control.

The device is controlled via the Perlisten app for iOS and Android. This app provides access to basic settings such as input selection and power-on behavior, as well as various parametric equalizers and presets for adapting to your room and listening position.

The Perlisten D8is has a suggested retail price of just under $20,000.
