Backes & Müller has unveiled a new active floorstander called the BM Line 35. Viewed from the front, the BM Line 35 is a slim speaker, but it stands 170 centimeters tall. A cylindrical wave radiator is positioned in the center.

With the BM Line 35, Backes & Müller introduces a completely redesigned active high-end loudspeaker that, for the first time, combines the company’s proprietary technologies in a remarkably slim enclosure. The manufacturer positions the model as the successor to the BM 35, introduced approximately twenty years ago, and describes it as a consistent further development based on more than five decades of experience in designing active loudspeakers.
The new BM Line 35 has a front panel just twenty centimeters wide and, according to the manufacturer, is specifically designed for large, modern living rooms where larger speakers were previously used. For the first time, this compact design also incorporates Backes & Müller’s patented cylindrical wave radiator. The goal is to largely eliminate the acoustics of larger rooms while simultaneously creating a wide listening area with a precise focus on the listening position.

Backes & Müller claims that the BM Line 35 effectively reduces floor and ceiling reflections thanks to vertical sound focusing. The manufacturer achieves this by combining a cylindrical wave radiator with a mid-range linear beam. Furthermore, the system utilizes patented sensor control and integrated room calibration, allowing for flexible placement, even close to walls or in corners of the room.
The BM Line 35 has a sculptural appearance. A special steel frame creates a floating impression, while high-quality finishes and contrasting driver surrounds emphasize the exclusive look. For buyers who value individuality, Backes & Müller offers a custom edition with freely combinable colors and finishes.
As with all of the manufacturer’s active loudspeakers, the amplifiers, digital crossovers, and digital converters are fully integrated into the BM Line 35. According to Backes & Müller, a digital preamplifier or a streaming preamplifier with volume control is therefore sufficient to create a complete high-end system. The speakers feature both digital and analog inputs. In conjunction with the company’s own preamplifiers, BM EasyLink technology can also be used, which enables digital signal transmission and volume control via a single cable.
The 1.7-meter-tall speakers house four side-mounted woofers, each with a diameter of thirty centimeters and equipped with patented sensor control. The midrange consists of an array of ten drivers, whose circuitry is derived from the larger BM Line 60 model. High frequencies are reproduced by

a Fraunhofer cylindrical wave radiator with a 2.5 cm tweeter, which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to offer high transparency and dynamics from 1 kHz onwards.
Backes & Müller specifies the system power of a single BM Line 35 at 3,000 watts. Signal processing is handled by a patented FIRTech processor, which ensures phase-correct frequency division and accurate timing display.
Price and delivery information
The BM Line 35 will begin arriving at authorized dealerships in January 2026. The suggested retail price starts at just under $80,000 for the standard version, with customized versions priced at just under $95,000.
