Sennheiser has added a new pair of headphones to its RS product line, specifically designed for television viewing. The new headphones are called the RS 275 and, according to the designers, deliver effortless wireless entertainment with extensive personalization. Their bundled BTA1 TV transmitter brings powerful Auracast functionality to any listening room.

Sennheiser’s new RS 275 TV headphones deliver a personal audio experience, purpose-built for enjoying movies, TV shows, and sports in uninterrupted, wireless bliss. With their simple operation, versatile connectivity options, and à la carte customization options, they put world-class wireless entertainment at your fingertips, according to Sennheiser in its press release.

The RS 275 bundle, consisting of the ultra-light HDR 275 TV headphones and the compact accompanying BTA1 digital transmitter, promises breathtaking, full-spectrum sound at consistently perfect volume levels. With its Auracast transmission technology powered by the LC3 Bluetooth codec, the RS 275 system offers ultra-low latency audio and picture synchronization with a range of up to 50 meters. Each HDR 275 can also connect to other Auracast- or Bluetooth Classic-compatible devices such as tablets and smartphones for app-based streaming content when listening in the kitchen, bedroom, or even the classroom. With its wide range of audio inputs, intelligent source switching, and multi-point functionality, the system is a perfect addition to any modern entertainment setup.

Simplicity was a top priority in its manufacturing. Out of the box, the RS 275 can be set up in just minutes. Users can optionally further enrich their experience with the free Sennheiser Smart Control Plus App (for Android and iOS). The app offers further personalization of features such as transparency mode, left-right balance, hearing profiles, audio modes per device type, lost headphone retrieval, and more. And speaking of clarity, the headphones feature the brand’s renowned in-house acoustics, specifically tuned for speech intelligibility and an immersive bass response. The system includes a variety of user-friendly tools for enhanced dialogue and immersion, all at a volume that won’t disturb the sleep of light sleepers or neighbors.

HDR 275 made for long evenings of television watching

The HDR 275 TV headphones are made for marathon binges. Their developers created a surprisingly lightweight design that feels as light as a feather, comparable to a typical remote control. Their soft cushions keep your ears cool thanks to their breathable and luxurious fabric, for a custom fit that makes them seem to disappear on your head.

Large, clearly structured buttons offer reliable tactile control of volume (up to 106 dB), power, and even incoming calls. A single battery charge provides up to 50 hours of listening time, and charging via the transmitter’s USB-C port or a wall charger keeps your options flexible. Both the earcups and battery are user-replaceable to ensure longevity for the epicenter of your multimedia setup, while a sturdy metal headphone stand keeps every setup organized.

When connected to the Smart Control Plus app, the headphones can adopt presets or user-defined equalizer settings, bass boost, and other hearing enhancements. The wearer can emphasize brightness or warmth, for example, and apply their preference to the overall character of the HDR 275. There’s even a selectable noise-cancellation mode to reduce static and interference while simultaneously consolidating the signal to mono: perfect for classic movies and TV shows.

TV transmitter

The included BTA1 TV transmitter uses Auracast exclusively, delivering a wireless signal across any entertainment space for devices like headphones, earbuds, hearing aids, and speakers using the open Auracast standard. This compact hub offers a variety of input options and extensive sound enhancement capabilities, allowing easy integration into virtually any setup. Buttons on the top allow you to manually switch between inputs and sound modes, including virtual surround sound and enhanced speech clarity when using TV or HDMI ARC sources. Users can also pair their smartphone with the BTA1 transmitter via Bluetooth. This allows configuration of automatic input switching and video delay compensation, while also controlling Auracast settings such as the transmitter name, password security, and hearing aid modes.

A combined optical and 3.5mm input connects the BTA1 to TVs, stereo systems, laptops, game consoles, and more. The HDMI ARC input expands its capabilities to TVs and A/V receivers that use the port to pass audio from built-in apps or services. The BTA1 draws power from the USB-A port of a nearby device and passes power to a USB-C output for charging. Its discreet design fits perfectly on the included headphone stand or can be discreetly placed near the audio source.
