Austrian Audio unveils the Arranger, an open-back over-ear headphone with new 44mm DLC drivers, balanced connectivity, replaceable parts, and a natural reference sound, priced just under $1,000.

Austrian Audio, the Austrian-based headphone manufacturer, has launched a new over-ear headphone with open earcups called the Arranger. According to the makers, the Arranger is designed for home use and joins the portfolio as a bridge between the Composer model and the Hi-X product line . All wear-and-tear parts are replaceable.

The Arranger builds technically on the company’s Hi-X product line. The designers say they’ve combined precision engineering, durability, and beautiful design. The Arranger is designed for extended listening. The new headphones are built around a newly developed 44mm dynamic driver featuring a diamond-like carbon-coated (DLC) diaphragm for increased rigidity and control. This driver is paired with a patented ring magnet system to achieve fast transient response, low distortion, and excellent bass reproduction. Austrian Audio claims that the result of the newly developed driver, combined with the Arranger’s open design, is a natural, spacious sound with clear spatial placement.

Austrian Audio claims a frequency response of 5 Hz to 30 kHz. The specified sensitivity is 110 dB SPL/V, the impedance is 25 ohms, and the manufacturer claims a THD at 1 kHz of less than 0.1 percent.

The Arranger also promises comfort during long listening sessions, with soft suede-leather earpads, a lightweight metal frame, and robust metal hinges. All this is combined with a foldable design that makes storage and transport easy without compromising build quality. Despite its robust design, the Arranger weighs just 310 grams.

The Arranger uses a balanced four-pin connection and is supplied with a TRS cable and optional balanced cables including a 4.4mm Pentaconn and a 5-pin XLR connector, enabling compatibility with a wide range of headphone amplifiers.

Finally, all major wear-and-tear parts, such as ear cushions and headband, are user-replaceable.

The Austrian Audio Arranger will be available for delivery in February and has a suggested retail price of just under $1,000.
