The HifiMan Jade II are excellent electrostatic headphones that can be purchased separately or as part of a complete system with an amplifier.
Jade II epitomizes electrostatic speed and performance. Low-distortion, sub-0.001mm nanotechnology driver with lightning-fast response and a nanoparticle-coated diaphragm that delivers extended high-frequency response, revealing every detail of music recorded in high quality.
The combination of lightweight aluminum alloy construction, soft cups and hybrid headband ensures a comfortable fit, even over long periods of use.
The HifiMan Jade II amplifier is stationary, powered by a 220/110 network. Sleek and compact, the amplifier looks equally at home at home, in a rack, on the desktop – wherever you prefer to listen to your favorite music.
After several days of warming up the Jade II with an amplifier, the process is not yet complete, but already the sound can be described as relatively neutral and balanced, with excellent speed, articulation and detail. However, the tone is a little leaner and cleaner compared to the Stax 007 MK2 and not as warm as the MrSpeakers VOCE.
The overall midrange timbre also seems quite well tuned with good harmonic balance, plenty of instrumental separation and a very fast tempo that really helps with the accurate and three-dimensional visualization of the scene. Of course, these are my subjective feelings, but they very often coincide with the majority.
The sub-bass is tight but not overpowering, at least compared to the Stax 007 MK2, and not as warm as the VOCE. The VOCE’s bass is fairly linear, but they still have good stage. Our impressions of the HifiMan Jade II system are that they sound fast and punchy when needed, but have a slightly lighter low end than the other MrSpeakers VOCE and Stax 007 MK2.
Of course, there is no need to take an amplifier, you can just take headphones if you already have a decent electrostatic amplifier, but I’m afraid not everyone has such a device at home. I will personally try the ade II with other amplifiers, haven’t had time yet. I’m very curious to know how the headphones will sound with non-standard DACs and amplifiers.
